North Bengal University M.Lib and B.Lib Admissions 2019: Eligibility, Application Process, Dates

North Bengal University imparts professional/non-professional education, research and training programs via its 23 departments. At postgraduate level, NBU offers admission to M.L.I.S (Master of Library and Information Science) and B.L.I.S (Bachelor of Library and Information Science) program. M.Lis is a 2 Year and 4-semester program with an intake of 53 seats. B.Lib is 2-semester long program with an intake of 76 seats.

 Admission to the M.Lib and B.Lib is done on the basis of the merit of the candidates in the Entrance Examination/qualifying degree. Candidates can register for admission by filling-in the online application form. Application fees of INR 150 (for general candidates) and INR 60 (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) is to be remitted using any of Net Banking/ Credit card/ ATM-cum-Debit card/ SBI challan downloaded from NBU-SBI Portal.

How To Apply

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib.I.Sc]

Intrested candidates can fill the application form for M.Lib and B.Lib online. Check the detailed procedure below: 

  1. Visit North Bengal University website.
  2. Select ‘UG Admissions’ from the Admission Tab.
  3. Register using a valid e-mail address and Mobile number.
  4. Fill all the information correctly and attach the scanned photocopy of passport size photograph and signature.
  5. Remit the required application fee of INR 150 (for general candidates) and INR 60 (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) using Net Banking/ Credit card/ ATM-cum-Debit card/ SBI challan downloaded from NBU-SBI Portal. 
  6. After getting confirmation, proceed to application process.
  7. Select the course of your choice.
  8. Provide all the required inforamtion i.e. Applicant Details, Correspondence Address and Parents details.
  9. Confirm the status, submit and take a print out for future reference.

Admission Process

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib.I.Sc]

Candidates from other universities are selected for M.Lib and B.Lib programs on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the university. However, candidates possessing NBU degree are selected directly on the basis of qualifying degree merit.

NBU publishes the merit list of entrance exam on University notice board. Selected candidates have to appear for admission and document verification with originals and photocopies of the below-mentioned documents.

Documents Required at the Time of Admission:

  1. Transfer Certificate   
  2. Admit Card and Mark Sheet of 10th
  3. Qualifying degree examination
  4. HSC/CBSE/other equivalent mark sheet
  5. Community Certificate (For OC candidates community certificate not required)   
  6. Certificates for Special categories, if required     
  7. Nativity Certificate if required   
  8.  Date of Birth Certificate (SSC / ICSE / CBSE).
  9. Medical certificate
  10. Other relevant certificates.


  • 60% of seats are reserved for NBU candidates
  • 40% are reserved for the candidates of other universities.
  • Reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B according to the specified rules of GOI/UGC



The University endows the following scholarships to its deserving candidates:

  1. SC/ST Welfare and Backward Class Scholarships.
  2. Scholarships given by Govt. of India.
