Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), formerly known as the University College of Engineering, Burla, is a UGC recognised Unitary Technical University located in Burla, Odisha. It is the best institute of technical education running under the government of Odisha. It is the oldest degree-granting engineering institute in Odisha, founded as the University College of Engineering (UCE) in 1956. All the engineering courses of the University are AICTE approved.
The scholars of this institute have also been awarded various accolades like the NASA award, and are very active in academic and Technical Events and Participated in 89 Seminars and Technical Design Competitions and won 17 prizes. The campus placement has resulted in many companies such as Wipro, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, CMC, and other recruiting students from the University.
VSSUT invites applications for admission to the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Programme offered by the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of this University. The Programme is offered only in Full Time regular mode and is for a duration of one year.

You should download the Application form from the University website, and then take a print out of the Application Form.
You should fill the Application Form with the required personal and educational details.
You must affix a recent colour passport size photograph in the space provided. It must be attested by a Gazetted Officer or Employer with seal.
Application Fee: You must pay the non-refundable fee in the form of Demand Draft of Rs. 500 in case of general category and Rs. 200 in case of SC/ST category, in favour of VSSUT, Burla payable at SBI, Burla (Code-2034) or Syndicate Bank, VSSUT (Code-8062).

You should then send the duly signed Application Form along with the self-attested copy of all supporting documents (certificates, mark sheet, GATE / NET Score Card, etc.) above by speed post or Registered Post only so as to reach the Dean, PGS&R, VSSUT, Burla
Note: The envelope containing the application should be super scribed as “Application for M.Phil. Programme” along with the name of the Department as applicable.
You should have a good academic career securing not less than 48% marks or equivalent grade at the respective Master’s Degree in the subject from any university or institute recognized by UGC/HRD of Govt. of India
The reservation criteria will be as per the norms prescribed by the Government of India.
Your selection will be based on Academic Performance and the Entrance Test conducted by the various Departments. The total shall together carry a total of 100 marks. You should be able to secure a minimum of 50% marks for general category and 45% marks for SC/ST category.
The Entrance Test shall comprise of one paper of 50 marks (20 marks Objective Type Questions and 30 marks for short-answer type questions) of two hours duration. The Question Paper shall cover the papers taught at the Post-Graduate level. You should be able to secure minimum 40% of marks in the entrance test for general category and 30% of marks for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes category.
Exemptions: If you have qualified UGC-CSIR-NET/GATE/SLET test and are an awardee of teacher Fellow (TF) from UGC, you will be exempted from the entrance test.
Career Marks (Academic Performance)
Your Academic Performance will be calculated in the form of career marks. They shall be out of 50 marks. It will have the following marks distribution:
