Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), formerly known as the University College of Engineering, Burla, is a UGC recognised Unitary Technical University located in Burla, Odisha. It is the best institute of technical education running under government of Odisha. It is the oldest degree-granting engineering institute in Odisha, founded as the University College of Engineering (UCE) in 1956. All the engineering courses of the University are AICTE approved.
VSSUT invites applications for Admission to the Ph.D. Programme in various specializations under Engineering, Science and Humanities for the academic year. Applications form can be downloaded from the official website.
Last Date to submit the application form through Speed Post is December 15.
The admission to the programme will be on the basis of an Entrance Test and Interview to be held in the 4th week of December.

You should download the Application form from the University website, and then take a print out of the Application Form.
You should fill the Application Form with the required personal and educational details.
You must affix a recent colour passport size photograph in the space provided. It must be attested by a Gazetted Officer or Employer with seal.
You must also mention whether you have qualified GATE/NET or any other Fellowship.
Application Fee: You must pay the non-refundable fee in the form of Demand Draft of Rs. 500 in case of general category and Rs. 200 in case of SC/ST category, in favour of VSSUT, Burla payable at SBI, Burla (Code-2034) or Syndicate Bank, VSSUT (Code-8062).
You should then send the duly signed Application Form along with the self-attested copy of all supporting documents (certificates, mark sheet, GATE / NET Score Card, etc.) above by speed post or Registered Post only so as to reach the Dean, PGS&R, VSSUT, Burla.
Note: The envelope containing the application should be super scribed as “Application for Ph.D. Programme Spring ” along with the name of the Department as applicable.
You will be selected on the basis of a Written Test conducted by the different Departments, followed by an Interview.
The Written Test will contain a total of 30 questions carrying 40 marks. Out of these, 20 questions will be of multiple choice type carrying one mark for every correct answer. The rest of the 30 questions will be objective type carrying 2 marks for every correct answer.
The final selection will be out of a total of 100 marks based on the marks distributed between the past Academic Performance (Career Marks), marks in Written Test, and marks obtained in the Interview, with the following distribution of marks:

You should be able to secure a minimum of 50% marks if you belong to the general category and 40% marks if you belong to the SC/ST category.
Exemptions: If you have qualified GATE/NET/Inspired fellowship (DST)/Teacher fellowship (UGC) and other fellowships from Govt. Agencies, you are exempted from the Written Test and you will be given preference in the selection of Ph.D. admission. You will be required to appear only interview before DAC.
The reservation criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ST category/ physically challenged/disabled candidates will be as per UGC guidelines/Government Rules.
