Kanpur University (CSJMU) invites applications for M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in various disciplines. A master’s degree holder can apply for these programs. Admission is offered as per candidates’ score in CSJMUET conducted at university-level followed by an interview round for the shortlisted candidates. Application form can be filled online from the official website of Kanpur University (CSJMU) followed by submission to the given address. They offer the program for minimum 3 years and maximum 6 years.
The application process is ongoing, the forms can be filled online starting from January 08, 2020 to April 15, 2020. Last date to submit the hard copy is April 22, 2020. GATE/ CSIR NET/ DST-INSPIRE/ ICAR/ ICMR/ UGC NET/ SLET qualified candidates are exempted from CSJMUET. Such candidates need to appear in the interview round only. Kanpur University (CSJMU) M.Phil & Ph.D Eligibility Criteria
Candidate must possess masters degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in aggregate.
Student will be allowed to do masters only in the subject in which they specifically hold the Masters degree.
Students with the degree of M.A or M.Sc in Mathematics will be allowed to do Ph.D in statistics.
Associate professors, professors or permanent assistant professors from the teaching department of the university, and they must have completed probabtion period with two years of uninterrupted services are exempted from the exam.
Students with the grants for research from UGC (NET JRF)/ CSIR(NET JRF)/ GATE MHRD Scholarship/ SLET/ DBT/ ICMR/ DST INSPIRE/ ICAR are exempted from the entrance examination.
CSJM M.Phil and Ph.D Reservation
Seats will be reserved for candidates according to the Uttar Pradesh Government rules.
Reserved category candidates must attach their attested true copy of reservation certificate with the application form
ST vacant seats shall be transferred to SC category and SC vacant seats shall be transferred to OBC category
Kanpur University (CSJMU) M.Phil & Ph.D. Admission Process
Admission is based on the marks in CSJMUET followed by an interview round. The entrance test will consist of MCQs of 4 marks each with a maximum of 400 marks. There will be a negative marking of one mark for a wrong attempt. Candidates have to secure at least 50% marks to qualify the entrance test (some may qualify on the basis of grace marks given).
Exemptions from Ph.D. Entrance Test (CSJMUET):
Permanent Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors working in the teaching departments of CSJMU or a government college / aided college affiliated to the university with an experience of at least Two years of uninterrupted service.
International students (including NRIs) eligible for admission to Kanpur University
Candidates with research grants such as fellowship/scholarship/associateship etc. from UGC(NET-JRF)/ CSIR(NET-JRF)/ GATE-MHRD/ Teacher Fellowship/ DBT/ ICMR/ICAR/DST-INSPIRE/SLET.
Candidates with a minimum GATE Score of 95 Percentile
Serving Army, Navy and Air-force Officers of at least Colonel or equivalent rank with not less than 15 years of service (for Ph.D. degree in Defence and Strategic Studies)
