Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHIATS)formerly known as Allahabad Agricultural Institute is a government aided deemed university located in Allahabad. It is certified as a Christian Minority Educational Institution. It is one of the oldest universities in India and was established in 1910 aimed towards improving the economic status of rural population. It became the first institute in India to offer a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1942. Since its inception, the institute has produced many notable scientists, geneticists, and agricultural engineers.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has placed SHIATS in the list of elite category 'A' deemed universities on the basis of the expert committee recommendation. The university has been re-accredited with a CGPA of 3.14 on a four-point scale and has received an ‘A’ grade from the NAAC. SHIATS was also accredited in 2009 by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and in 2010 by Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE).
The academic infrastructure of the university is organized into eight faculties (8) — which are divided into twenty two (22) constituent schools. The University invites Applications for admission to the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programme in various specializations. The programme is for a duration of two years comprising of four semesters.
cYou can obtain the Application Form and Prospectus either online or manually from the University. If you are getting it in person, it will be available for Rs. 400 which can be paid in cash. If you are accessing the Application Form online, its cost will be included in the Application fee.
Manual Submission of Application Form:
You must fill the Application Form with the required personal and educational details. You must also affix a recent passport size photograph in the space provided.
Pay the Application fee of Rs. 1000 through a Demand Draft in favour of SHIATS, payable at Allahabad or a university cash receipt of the aforesaid amount.

Online Submission of Application Form:
Step 1: You should go to the University website and click on “Online Application Form”
Step 2: You must then fill the Application Form with the required personal and educational details.
Step 3: Submit the Application Form by clicking on the Submit button. After you submit the form, you will get the Online Application Form with the Query Number and Query Code. This is the Confirmation that your Form has been successfully submitted.
Step 4: You should then upload a passport size photograph of not more than 40kb in size.
Step 5: You must then take a print out of the Application Form.

You should have a Bachelor’s Degree in the final examination in the specialization mentioned below under the 10+2+4 or the 10+2+3 as per the qualifying examination. You should also have secured a minimum of 55% marks in case of general category and 50% marks in case of reserve category.

There is 50% of reservation of seats for candidates of the Christian community and the remaining 50% seats are available for general category candidates strictly by merit.
For the programmes in fields of agriculture, agricultural engineering and allied sciences, 25% of the seats will be filled through the all India Entrance test conducted by ICAR and the rest of the 75% of the seats by the Entrance Test conducted by SHIATS.
The Entrance Test conducted by SHAITS will have a total of 160 question which are to be answered in a duration of two hours. The test will comprise of 40 questions of General Aptitude and 120 questions of the respective optional section.
The Entrance Test shall be conducted in English language only. There shall be negative making with one marks being deducted for every wrong answer.
The selection for M.Sc. Anthropology will be through Faculty level Test followed by an Interview.
There is provision for scholarship to be provided by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to eligible candidates of SC/ST/Minority/OBC/General category of Uttar Pradesh only.
