IMT Hyderabad begins Application Process for PGDM 2019: Dates, Placement, Cut Off

Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabadwhich was recently recognized as the ‘Best Upcoming B-School in South India’, has begun the Application Process for admission to the  PGDM programs. Students willing to join PGDM at IMT Hyderabad, can apply online.

In order to be eligible for application, a candidate must have a valid CAT/ GMAT/ CMAT/ XAT score.

IMT, Hyderabad shortlists candidates on the basis of marks scored in the CAT/GMAT/CMAT/XAT exams. The institute further conducts a Critical Thinking (CT), Group Exercise (GE), and Personal Interview (PI) round for the shortlisted candidates. Based on the performance in CT-GE-PI round, candidates are then selected for admission to PGDM program at IMT Hyderabad.

IMT Hyderabad is the fourth and the youngest IMT and was established in the year 2011. The institute recently completed the placement for the 2014-16 batches with highest package offered being INR 21 Lac per annum. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for all IMT PGDM programs must have a minimum three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any discipline. Applicants who are appearing for the final-year degree examination can also apply provided they submit their pass certificates with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate.

Applicants must the score card for or must have appeared for CAT  or XAT or CMAT or must have taken GMAT. Such candidates will have to produce their score card at the time of interview.

Note: CMAT scores will be accepted only at IMT Hyderabad, and IMT Nagpur campuses.

Application Process


Candidates willing to apply to PGDM program at IMT Hyderabad, can do so by visiting the official website of the institute. The application process is online. There is a common application process for all four campuses of IMT. While applying a candidate must keep in mind the campuses they wish to apply for.

While filling the application form, an applicant will have to provide the following details:

  • Name as on official documents
  • Educational Qualification
  • Contact Details
  • ID for CAT or ID for XAT or ID for GMAT or Roll no. for CMAT

The application fee for PGDM courses at IMT is INR 2000. Applicants can pay the application fee by any of the following means:

  • Through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking
  • Through Demand Draft

Payment through Credit/Debit card or Net Banking

After filling the form, applicants can pay the fee in the online mode itself. They can do so by using a valid Credit or Debit Card or through Net Banking. Once the payment is complete, the application form number will be displayed. The candidate must note down this application form number for future reference. The final application form will also be available on the admission portal for download. Applicants can also check Application form status on the IMT admission portal.

Payment through Demand Draft

Candidates willing to pay the application fee through a Demand Draft, must have the details of the Demand Draft before they begin filling the application form. A candidate must mention their name, application number, and phone number on the reverse side of the demand draft. The steps for submission of demand draft is given below:

  1. After successful submission of filled in application form, a copy of the submitted form will be displayed on the website with a “tear off” sheet.
  2. Take a printout of the application form along with the “tear off” sheet.  
  3. Sign the “tear off” sheet and paste a recent colored passport size photograph on the sheet.
  4. Send the completed “tear off” sheet with the Demand Draft on the address mentioned on the sheet.

The candidate should retain the remaining part of the application form with them for future reference.

Selection Process


After the application process is over, the institute will prepare a shortlist of candidates on the basis of marks scored in CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT exam. In case a candidate has appeared in more than one exam mentioned here, then the institute will consider the best score out of the given tests.

The shortlisted candidates will then be called for selection process rounds. The Selection process rounds consist of:

  1. Critical Thinking Test

Critical Thinking Test will be of 30 minutes duration and test a candidate on their critical thinking abilities, Communication skills, and Innovation and creativity.

  1. Group Exercise

Group Exercise will be of roughly 30 minutes. In this, candidates will be divided in small groups and given a task or a problem to solve as a group. It could be anything from case-study, to solving a puzzle or a business problem. This test will analyze a candidate on their leadership skills, interpersonal skills, contribution of ideas, and communication and attitude.

  1. Personal Interview

After Group Exercise, each candidate will be called for a Personal Interview which will be of approximately 15 minutes. In Personal Interview, a candidate will be evaluated on their domain knowledge, communication skills, versatility, and general awareness and maturity. Candidates with work experience will also be assessed on the relevance of their work experience to the PGDM program.
