Rabindra Bharti University (RBU) UG Admissions 2020: Courses, Application Process, Eligibility

Rabindra Bharti University invites applicants for admission in their BA/BFA/B.L.I.Sc & B.Ed. undergraduate courses through a common entrance test. Under the RBU panel, Rabindra Bharti University has divided it’s faculty into 3 departments: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts & Faculty of Visual Arts.Under these faculties, different courses are arranged in a way best suited for the advancement and progress of the University’s teaching methodologies and the students.

Candidates holding a minimum mark of 50% at 10+2 level in relevant subject are eligible for admission.  Admission to Rabindra Bharti University is granted on the basis of merit in qualifying marks. Merit list of selected candidates will be published on the official website of the University.

Admission to UG courses of the University is online and the required application fee can be remitted on the university website using Net Banking or Credit Cards or Debit Cards of any bank. Check Rabindra Bharti University Admission 2019

10+2 with a minimum of 55% Marks (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC) in the concerned subject is the basis eligibility requirement for admission to UG programs. 

Applications to B.A Economics can be made by the students having Mathematics as their subject at 10+2 level with a minimum score of 30% (with economics) and at least 50% (without economics) in the same. 

Eligibility For Special Honors:

10+2 with a minimum score of 55% (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC) in the concerned subject in which they wish to pursue the course.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science [B.Lib.I.Sc]

Fresher candidates having a Bachelor/ Master’s Degree with Honors (10+2+3) or Bachelors in Engineering or Technology (10+2+4/ 10+2+5) from any institute recognized by the UGC are eligible to apply.

Key Notes:

  • Fresher candidates having a break of studies (2 years or more) are not eligible to apply.
  • Deputed candidates having a graduation degree in Honors and a full time salaried work employ experience from a Govt. aided institution or Library are eligible to apply.
  • No break is allowed for deputed candidates.
  • For certificate courses, candidates having a graduation degree in Honors and a certificate in Library Sciences are eligible to apply.

How To Apply

BA , B.Ed & BFA

Interested candidates can apply for UG courses offered in Rabindra Bharti University in online mode. For detailed information, check the information given below:

  1. Visit Rabindra Bharti University Website.
  2. Click on UG Admissions for Online Application.
  3. Register using a valid Email and Mobile Number.
  4. After successful registration, Login for online application using Email and password.
  5. Select your course and check eligibility to proceed.
  6. Eligible candidates are required to upload scanned Photograph and Signature.
  7. Pay the required application fee via Net Banking or Credit Cards or Debit Cards of any bank.
  8. Fill in all the required information and click on submit.
  9. After the Submission of the application, the applicant will be able to download the filled up ‘Application Form’ bearing the AIN (Application Identification Number).


  1. The application form will be considered incomplete unless the student makes the payment.
  2. The student must take the print out of the form which consists of an Application Identification No. (AIN) which may be treated as a unique no during admission process.
  3. Without AIN, application form for any student may not be considered for admission.

Admission Process


Criteria for evaluation of marks in merit lists for all courses offered are as follows:

Applicants are analyzed on the basis of marks obtained at 10+2 level and Bachelors level. 50% of the score is based on the marks obtained in 10th  and 12th  standards (or equivalent) in the ratio of 20:30 respectively. (Best four subjects). The other 50% is based on the score in the concerned subject in which the student wishes to apply in the Honors Degree. On the basis of total aggregate, the merit lists will be prepared.

1 st Provisional Merit list of the candidates selected for admission in the above subjects and other details will be published on the University.


The total aggregate of each candidate shall be proposed based on the marks secured in H.S. /12 standard (or equivalent) and marks scored in the admission test (theory + practical) in the ratio 20:80 respectively, according to which the merit list will be prepared.

Selection of Elective Subject:

For students who are pursuing B.A. or B.A. Hons. Degree of respective faculties, they have to select two subjects from the following Groups A, B, C, D. Out of which only one subject can be selected per group. The elected subjects carry 300 marks each.

Drama, Mass Communication & Videography, Philosophy, and Economics


English, Bengali, Sanskrit, and Dance


History, Mathematics (compulsory for Economics honors students), Vocal Music and Percussion


  • Students opting for Instrumental Music are prohibited from choosing Percussion anymore and Vice-Versa.
  • Any change in the choice of elective subject may not be entertained after two months from the date of admission.
  • Students cannot opt for the same elective subject to which they are concerned with in the Honors Degree.
  • Additional fees of INR 2000/- has to be paid by the students opting for Mass Communication & Videography. The payment must be made within one month from the date of admission.


Deputed candidates having a teaching experience from class IX onwards from a Govt. aided school will be eligible for admissions. They should also submit an NOC issued from the school authority at the time of admission.

Documents Required at the time of Admission

  • Marksheets of 10th , 12th , Graduation and Postgraduate.

Total no of seats for the B.Ed. Course: 50

Out of the total, 75% seats will be reserved for Fresher candidates (90% of this is reserved for home university and 10% for other university candidates) and the rest 25% of seats are reserved for Deputed candidates.

Total no of seats for B.Ed. Spl. Course: 30

Out of the total, 90% seats will be reserved for home university candidates and the rest 10% seats will be for open competition from other universities. As per the Govt. rules, separate reservation of seats will be conducted for reserved categories (SC/ST/O


  1. Separate seat reservation for the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) as per the Govt. guidelines.

2) Students must notify themselves about the seat allocation for fresher candidates (internal & external) and deputed candidates from the University website.

3) B.L.I.Sc. Course reserves 4 separate seats for Foreign/ NRI candidates against a higher tuition fees.

Hi Sunisa, There is no entrance exam for BFA Course at Rabindra Bharti University. The eligibility criteria for BFA is a candidate must be passed in 10 2 with an interest in the relevant field.
