IIM Lucknow PGDM Admissions 2017-19

IIM Lucknow is an autonomous public business school located in Uttar Pradesh, India. Ranked among the top 5 B-schools in India, the institute offers the following full-time residential MBA courses:

Students who possess a graduate degree with at least 50% aggregate of marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST candidates) from a recognized university can apply for the MBA Programmes at the institute. Candidates must also possess valid CAT-2016 score in order to be eligible for admission to IIML MBA programs.

Selection of the students to the MBA programmes for the batch 2017-19 will be done on the basis of following parameters:

  1. CAT-2016 Scores
  2. Scholastic Achievements
  3. Performance in Academic Writing Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI)
  4. Work Experience

Candidates are shortlisted for WAT and PI round on the basis of their past academic record and marks scored in CAT-2016. The ranking and the final selection is based on a number of components such as performance in CAT-2016, WAT & PI, scholastic achievements as well as work experience of the candidate.

Eligibility Criteria

Post Graduate Programme in Management [PGPM]

  • Candidate should possess graduate degree (minimum 3 years), with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the reserved category candidates) from any recognized institution or university
  • If the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks by the university, the normalization of marks will be done based on the procedure certified by the said university. In case, the university does not have scheme for normalization, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100
  • Candidate due to appear for the final year bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination or students who are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Such a candidate will be provisionally admitted only if he/she must submits a certificate issued by the concerned institution/ university confirming his/her graduate degree or equivalent qualification  
  • Such a candidate must submit his/her mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor’s degree examination on or before June 30, 2017 (including supplementaries, if any) issued by the concerned institution/ university

List of Equivalent Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma) or B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE
  • Any Qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) New Delhi, which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognized University/Institutions

Post Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management [PGP-ABM]

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science/ Agricultural Engineering or allied subjects (minimum 3 years), with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the reserved category candidates) from any recognized institution or university
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing HSC or equivalent examination with at least two years’ experience or strong interest in the field of Agriculture or allied sector
  • If the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks by the university, the normalization of marks will be done based on the procedure certified by the said university. In case, the university does not have scheme for normalization, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100
  • Candidate due to appear for the final year bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination or students who are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Candidates must possess graduate degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/PWD category) or equivalent, with at least two years of work experience.


How to Apply

Students seeking admission to MBA programmes at IIM-L should apply through official CAT website. The registration fee is Rs. 1700/- (For General and NC-OBC candidates) and Rs. 850/- (For SC/ST/ OBC candidates)

For admission to IIM Lucknow, candidates will have to select the name of MBA programme offered at the institute as per their preference. Along with the preference for programme, candidates also have to enter their choice of city for interview.

Stage 1: Shortlisting for Writing Ability Test (WAT) – Personal Interview (PI)

Step 1: Eligibility Criteria for WAT-PI

Candidates will be shortlisted for WAT and PI rounds mainly on the basis of their CAT 2016 scores. CAT-2016 consists of three sections viz. Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC).

Step 2: Calculation of Composite Score for Shortlisting for WAT-PI stage

Only the candidates securing the minimum percentile in each category in CAT 2016 will be considered for calculation of their composite score (CS) in Stage 1b on the basis of several factors as given in the following tables:
