Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK)has announced the admission criteria for its Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) for 2019 session. PGPM is a two year fully residential programme.
IIMK follows a two stage admission process, first stage includes shortlisting for PI & second stage involves final confirmation of seat after evaluation of CAT score, academic performance, Quality of work experience followed by Personal Interview (PI).
There are two ways for admissions to the PGPM: one for Indian students and the other is for international candiates. The admission proceedings and application processes for both are different. Final selection of a candidate will depend on CAT score, Academic weightage, Academic Diversity Factor & Performance in WAT & PI. Foreign & NRI are required to apply through their latest GMATor TOEFL score.

Students seeking admission to MBA programmes at IIM-K should apply through official CAT website. The registration fee is INR 1900/- (For General and NC-OBC candidates) and INR 950/- (For SC/ST/ OBC candidates).
For admission to IIM Kozhikode, candidates will have to select the name of program offered at the institutes as per their preference. Along with the preference for program, candidates also have to enter their choice of city for interview.
It is the minimum qualification or degree a candidate must possess in order to apply. The academic qualification required to appear for CAT is listed below:
Note 1: A recognized university is one which is constituted by an act of the Central or State Legislature. It also includes any university or institute which is established by an act of Parliament or is declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act of 1956.
Note 2: In case of Universities which award grades or CGPA, but do not have a procedure for conversion of grades to percentage, the equivalent percentage will be calculated by the given process:
(Candidate’s CGPA/Maximum CGPA) X 100 = Equivalent Percentage
As per government regulations, 15%, 7.5% & 27% seats are reserved for SC/ST & OBC-NC categories. 3% seats are reserved for students of DA category (including Low vision, Hearing Impairment & Cerebral Palsy/Loco motor disability).
Note: Extent of disability should be more than 40% to be under DA category.
Scholarship & Financial Assistance for IIM Kozhikode PGPM Admissions:
IIMK Merit scholarships are awarded by the Institute to first and second year students on the basis of their performance during course work.
Central sector scholarship & Merit cum means scholarship are awarded to SC/ST students & minority candidates respectively. In addition to above mentioned scholarships, awards are also offered by NTPC, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, SGGSC, Aditya Birla Group, OPJEMS &Rajarshee Sahu Maharaj Scholarship etc.
Performance in CAT is the only criteria to get admission in IIMs. Each IIM follows a slightly different selection process although CAT score is the basic requirement. Go through the admission policy for the academic session 2019:
IIMK adopts a two stage selection process, first stage is applicable to those students who have appeared in CAT test & registered online for IIMK. CAT score is the basic input in order to score admission in IIM K. Students must ensure that they perform well in all sections individually. Marks obtained in all the three sections will be used in calculation of index score (it will carry the weightage of 75%).
Percentage of marks obtained in class 10th, Class 12th, Diploma will be calucated on basis of aggregate marks in marksheet which is divided by the highest percentage obtained in the stream of the particular board of candidate and then mulitplying the number by 20.
For highest score, the database for the CAT Applicants of past three years including current year is utilised.
In order to satisfy diversity parameter, 5% relaxation for gender diversity & 5% for academic discipline will be granted from the IIM’s authorities. A candidate is entitled to take advantage of any one of the diversity factor. The benefit will be offered to those students who have obtained degree in any of the below listed categories:

User Fact: Students shortlisted for the first stage, have to register on IIMK website in order to fill the personal profile form. Only those students who will complete the form will be considered for subsequent stages of selection.
Second Stage of Selection in IIMK:
In the second stage of the selection process, students have to appear for GD or WAT followed by PI. The PI will last for half day i.e. morning or afternoon session where the aspirants will be writing a short note & participating in GD on a topic provided by admission authority. Note: The topic will be announced at the venue just before GD/WAT. Final admission will be granted on the basis of factors mentioned below:
Those students will receive the offer letter from IIM K, have to confirm their admission within given time along with acceptance amount of INR 1,00,000/-. The candidate will have to register on the registration day for the programme and pay the necessary fees to complete the admission process. In case of withdrawal of admission, fee will be refunded after deduction of fixed amount (as per Government norms).
