The selection process for IIM Indore is a three step process. The first stage of the selection is based on performance in CAT exam. IIM Indore shortlists candidates on the basis of overall and sectional marks scored in the CAT exam. The sectional and overall cutoff considered by IIM Indore is given below:
Section 1 (QA) Cutoff Percentile
Section 2 (DILR) Cutoff Percentile
Section 3 (VRC) Cutoff Percentile
Overall Cutoff Percentile
However, the cutoff mentioned above is only minimum cutoff percentile. The actual cutoff may be higher.
Shortlisting for WAT and PI
The second stage in Selection Process is WAT (Written Ability Test) and PI (Personal Interview). IIM Indore conducts the WAT and PI rounds in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai only.
The candidates who fulfill the overall and sectional cutoff criteria will only be considered for shortlisting for the WAT and PI round. The institute will award composite scores to each candidate which is the basis for shortlisting of candidates for WAT and PI. The composite score is calculated on the basis of following factors:
The composite score is calculated on the basis of formula given below:
X standard marks
36 * [(Zcandidate-Zmin)\Zmax-Zmin)]
XII standard marks
40 * [(Zcandidate-Zmin)\Zmax-Zmin)]
CAT 2016 overall score
21 * (Candidate’s CAT overall score/Highest CAT overall score)
Gender Diversity Factor
3 points for female candidates
0 points for male candidates
Sum of the above scores (maximum score 100)
Normalization is a process which every IIM follows to provide equal opportunity to candidates who might be at the receiving end because of the diversity in scoring process of schools, universities, and education boards across the country.
A candidate is required to attend both WAT and PI rounds and must obtain minimum qualifying marks in various criteria or parameters which are set by the selection committee of IIM Indore.
