Jadavpur Universityoffers Library Science courses of B.L.I.Sc., M.L.I.Sc. and M.L.I.Sc. Digital Library. The bachelor’s course and M.L.I.Sc. will be for a duration of 1 year and the M.L.I.Sc. DL course will be for a duration of 2 year. The Application forms will be made available by the University to be filled online on its website.

The courses are offered by the Department of Library and Information Sciences, Faculty of Arts of Jadavpur University. The seat availability is 60, 16 and 15 respectively for the courses.

The admission to B.L.I.Sc. Course is based on academic merit as well as work experience and certificate courses, if applicable. Whereas, the admission to both M.L.I.Sc. and M.L.I.Sc. DL is based equally on marks scored on qualifying exam and the Admission Test. How To Apply

The application process is online. The form can be accessed on the Universitywebsite.

  1. You must log in
  2. Enter your personal and educational details.
  3. Confirm that you have entered your data correctly.
  4. Click the “Preview” button on the bottom left position of the window.
  5. Then click on the "Save" button.

Once you have saved your Application, you will get a unique number (Application No.) and your score on the basis of your academic result. Please note down the Application No. for future reference.

The fees can be paid through the SBI gateway portal available on the university’s official website by entering the application number and the date of birth.


  • 10+2+3 Honours Graduate (in any discipline) with 50% marks in Honours subjects (45% for OBC category & 40% for SC/ST category) from any known university.
  • 10+2+3 Pass Graduate with 55% marks in aggregate (49.5% for OBC category & 41.25% for SC/ST category) from any recognized university.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical/Law from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent by the University.
  • 10+2+3 Graduate (Honours/Pass) from the University/any other university, plus Certificate in Library Science with 65% marks (58.5% for OBC category & 48.75% for SC/ST category) from a recognized body.


For Deputed Candidates: You should have a Bachelor's Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum of 3 years of experience (as on the date for submission of application) after passing BLIS as a whole-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information centre.

For Other Candidates: You should have a Bachelor's Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum of 55% marks in BLIS (41% for SC/ST and 50% for PD/OBC).

All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's and BLIS Degree course or equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC at the time of application.


The reservation criteria will apply only to those candidates domiciled in the state of West Bengal. It will be based on the policy followed by the state government rules.

Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD. Applicants under PD category will have to appear before an expert committee to be constituted by the University.

Admission Process

Selection will be made on the basis of a Written Admission Test. The Entrance Examination will be of an objective type consisting of 100 MCQs of 100 marks and will be of 1 ½ hours duration. The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of any faculty from a recognized University. There will be no negative marking. The paper will include questions from the following fields of knowledge:

Selection of candidates in the respective categories will be made in order of merit ascertained on the basis of 50% weightage on the marks secured in the BLIS examination and 50% weightage on the marks secured in the Written Admission Test.

Hi Shipra, admission process has already started for the course which will end on July 1, 2019 (tentatively). Students who have scored 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) in intermediate will be considered eligible for the course. However, you will be selected on the basis of academic merit, including certificate course and work experience, if applicable.
