Jadavpur University in West Bengal, India offers BA, B.Sc. and B.P.Ed at UG level. The duration of BA, B.P.Ed and B.Sc. courses is three years. The program is offered for a duration of two years. The application forms for all courses will be made available online on the University website at different dates.

Jadavpur University offers 9 BA courses, 5 B.Sc. courses, and one B.P.Ed. Course. The University even offers several postgraduate and professional courses. Admission to some of these courses are made through entrance exams, while for others applications are accepted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam. The eligibility and the selection process differs from course to course. 

Applications to Jadhavpur University can be made online. The applicant has to pay an Application Fees of INR 150 through SBI I-Collect system using Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card. Check Jadavpur University Admission 2020.

Note: Candidates who have obtained the Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University are not eligible for admission to the Bachelor Degree course of this University.

B.P.Ed

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in the Inter-College/Inter-Zonal/District/School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with 45% marks; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied Physical Education as compulsory/elective subject; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 45% marks and having participated in National/ Inter University/State competitions or secured 1st , 2nd or 3rd position in Inter College/ Inter Zonal/District/School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with participation in international competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in National/Inter-University competition in sports and games as recognized by respective federations/AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India; or
  • Graduation with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed in-service candidates i.e. trained physical education teachers or coaches)


How To Apply

BA , B.Sc & B.P.Ed

Application process for BA, B.Sc and B.PEd. programs offered by the Jadhavpur University is online. Application forms can be accessed on the official university website. The entire Application process is online, but the certificate for sports category, OBC category and PD category will have to be sent separately to the University. The entire Application process comprises primarily given steps:

  1. Register on the Jadhavpur University website.
  2. Login and enter your personal and educational information.
  3. Now click the Submit button to save your data.
  4. A unique number will be generated, note this number for future references.
  5. Select the department you wish to apply for.
  6. Check the eligibility criteria from the link on the top right corner.
  7. In case the applicant is eligible, click the Apply button.
  8. For each department that you apply for, you will be generated a different Application number.
  9. Note down that Application number.
  10. Make an online payment of INR 150 as Application Fee through SBI I-Collect system using Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card.
  11.  Upload the SB Collect Reference No (starting with DU), and click on submit to complete the application process.

Note: Applicants must submit attested photocopies of the certificates for participation in Sports/Games for applying under Sports category, and disability under the PD category along with a copy of the online payment receipt at the following address.

Admission Process

BA , B.Sc & B.P.Ed

The following table exhibits the selection criteria related to the courses, that a candidate wishes to enroll in:

Marks obtained in Mathematics will be added to aggregate to obtain a final score out of 500. Candidates will be ranked as per the final score.

BA History, Sanskrit and Sociology

Marks scored in qualifying exam

BA English, Comparative Literature

On the basis of a two and a half hour written test for English and a two hour written test for Comparative Literature

BA Political Science, Philosophy

Entrance Exam + Qualifying Exam with 50% weightage each

BA Bengali

Entrance Exam (60% weightage) + 40% weightage of marks obtained in Bengali and English taken together in qualifying exam

B.Sc. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics

Marks scored in the qualifying exam (out of a score of 400)

B.Sc. Geological Sciences, Geography

Marks scored in the qualifying exam (out of a score of 300)

B.P.Ed.

Admission test (Practical) + academic results + written test.

There will be a separate merit list for male and female candidates.

Note: Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination (under 10+2 system) through a correspondence course under any recognized Board/Council, shall be required to sit for a Preliminary Qualifying Test (PQT) for admissions to BA (Honours) in Economics, History, Sanskrit and Sociology.


Reservation

Domicile holders of the state of West Bengal are eligible for reservation. The reservation criteria are as per the rules of state government.

For PWD: Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD. Applicants under PD category will have to appear before an expert committee to be constituted by the University.

For OBC Category: The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories must produce an OBC certificate at the time of counselling/ admission. It should be issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates:

  1. The category (A or B) they belong to;
  2. That they do not belong to the creamy layer of the society

For Sports Quota: There are certain requirements that the candidate must fulfill.

For the sports and games recognized by AIU, the candidate must have: 

  1. A record of participation in the Inter-State competition or above; or
  2. Secured position 1st or 2nd or 3rd for individual event or sports or member of Champion / Runners up team for team events/sports/games in Inter-District (open) competition not before 01.01.2014

For Chess: The candidate must have FIDE rating of 1700 and above is eligible to apply for admission under sports quota.

For Tennis: A student having AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to 500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under sports quota.

Hi Harsh, marks obtained in Mathematics will be added to aggregate to obtain a final score out of 500. Candidates will be ranked as per the final score on the basis of which, admission will be approved. Thus, no entrance exam will be conducted by the university for admission to this course.

Hi Manishankar, candidates who have passed intermediate with an aggregate of 65% (60% for reserved category) are considered eligible for the course. Thus, you are eligible. However, admission will be granted only on the basis of academic merit in qualifying examination.

Hi Ambika, admission process for all the UG courses will start from June 14, 2019 (tentatively). Admission will be based on the score in a two and a half hour written test for English and a two hour written test for Comparative Literature conducted by the university.

Hi Ayush, students who want admission in non-med courses in B.Sc in the university have to score 65% if they are from open category, 58.5% if they are from SC/ST/PD/Sports quota and 45% for OBC A/OBC B category.

Hi Debankur, admission to B.Sc Physics Hons will start from June 14, 2019 (tentatively). Admission to all hons courses is based on the marks scored in entrance examination. Candidates can apply for admission online on the official website of the university.
