Jadavpur University, West Bengal offers research based programs such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programs. The application forms for all courses will be made available online the University website in the month of May and admissions to the programs are done by the month of July.
Jadavpur University offers 15 M.Phil. courses in different subjects through several departments and 11 Ph.D. Courses. There is also a provision for continuation of Ph.D. after completing M.Phil. from this university. The University even offers several postgraduate and professional courses.
The last date for submission of Application form for M.Phil. Program. The application forms for Ph.D. Program can be submitted in the university.
The admission to the above-mentioned courses are done through Admission Test conducted by the various departments of the University, including the Interview for many programs.

The application process is completely online and the duly filled Application Forms must be submitted. The form can be accessed on the University website.
Online Application: The entire Application process comprises primarily of three steps.
Step 1: First, you must login and enter your personal and educational information here. You have to provide this information only once, regardless of how many departments you apply for. If you are not sure about the meaning of any box, place the cursor over that box, and a Tool Tip box will appear. Now click Submit button to save your data. You will then get a unique number. Please note down this, you will need this No. to login to this system in future.
Step 2: You will now be required to select the department you wish to apply for. Before applying you can review the eligibility criteria from the link on the top right corner. If you are eligible, click the Apply button. For each department that you apply for, you will be generated a different Application number. You must note down that Application number.
Step 3: In the Main Page you will get the link for online payment of Application Fee of Rs. 500 which can be made online through SBI I-Collect system in any of the following modes:
Now you need to go to the link and pay the Application Fees using Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card. You should then upload the SB Collect Reference No (starting with DU) in this website, and click on submit.
Candidates should apply in the prescribed form available on the website. The duly filled in Application form must be submitted.
Enclosures: The following documents should be attached with the application form:
Application Fee: You should pay the Application fee of Rs. 500 through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Registrar, Jadavpur University, payable at Kolkata.

The Admission Test for M.Phil. Program will be conducted by the respective departments. Candidate should be able to secure a minimum of 50% marks to qualify in the Admission Test.
The Admission Test for Ph.D. Program will also be conducted by the respective Departments. It will be for a duration of two hours, except for Economics which will be for two and a half hours. Candidates who have done M.Phil. Program or have qualified in the NET/SET/GATE/Teacher Fellow or any other examination shall be exempted from giving the Written Test and will have to directly appear in the Interview.
For the Interview to the Ph.D. Program, candidate will be required to submit a Statement of Purpose relevant for his/her intended field of research, with not more than 500 words.
The distribution of seats to the M.Phil. Program shall be as follows:

The reservation criteria will apply only to those candidates domiciled in the state of West Bengal. It will be based on the policy followed by the state government rules.
For PWD: Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD. Applicants under PD category will have to appear before an expert committee to be constituted by the University.
For OBC Category: The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories must produce an OBC certificate at the time of counselling/ admission, whose date of issue should not be earlier. It should be issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates:
