Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1920 by Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Shri A.M. Khwaja, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Dr. Zakir Husain, etc. at Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh). The campus shifted to Delhi in 1925. The University got its 'deemed' status in 1962.

The university invites candidates to join their various Undergraduate courses. The last date for the submission of application forms is April 21, 2017. The admissions are based on entrance tests conducted by JMI.

Application forms are available on the University's website. They are to be filled and submitted online only. The seats indicated for each course are the maximum seats. The University may or may not fill all of them. About 50% of the seats are reserved for Muslim categories. Another 5% is reserved for internal students.

Note:

Students applying for B.Ed. or B.Voc. should not have a degree in B.A or B.Sc. in Vocational Subjects.

Points to be noted for B.Ed. program:

  1. For teaching of Commerce, applicant must have a Master's Degree in Commerce with at least 50% marks.
  2. The candidate must have passed at least two teaching subjects up to graduation/post-graduation.
  3. The following candidates are NOT eligible:
  • Candidates with Bachelor's Degree in vocational subjects.
  • Candidates with B.A. degree in one language only
  • Candidates with M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Environmental Science/Botany. Such candidates can apply on the basis of their Bachelor's Degree, if applicable.


How To Apply

BA , BBA/BBM & B.Com

  1. Candidates can get the application form from http://jmi.ac.in/onlineadmissionform.
  2. The candidates have to fill the form online.
  3. The candidate has to upload a scanned copy of their colored passport sized photo (.jpeg format with size not between 5KB and 20KB) and their signature (Blue/Black ink on white paper with size between 5KB and 10KB).
  4. After filling the form, the candidates have to pay a registration fee of Rs.700/- either by Net Banking/Debit/Credit card or the fees can be paid in cash at any Indian Bank branch by downloading the challan from the admission portal.
  5. The candidates are not required to upload any certificate etc.
  6. The following details are mandatory to be ready with the candidate before filling the form:
  • E-mail ID
  • Mobile Number
  • Scanned Photo
  • Scanned Signature
  • Credit/Debit Card (in case of online payment)

Note: When paying through debit/credit card, do not press back/refresh or close the window during the payment as it can cancel the payment.


Admission Process

BA , BBA/BBM & B.Com

  1. The selection is based on the rank/marks scored by the candidate in an Entrance Test conducted by JMI.
  2. The entrance test may or may not be followed by an interview.
  3. The candidates have to score at least 40% marks to be eligible for selection.
  4. The allotment of seats will be according to JMI's Admission Procedure.
  5. A list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be available on JMI's notice board as well as on their website.
  6. The selected candidates will be given a date to appear for the admission formalities.
  7. The selected candidates are to bring their admit cards of the entrance test, along with originals and self-attested copies of the following documents:
  • Proof of passing qualifying exam along with marksheets.
  • 10+2 or equivalent exam's marksheet
  • Age proof (High School/Senior Secondary School's marksheet)
  • Proof of entitlement to any reserved category (if applicable)
  • Character Certificate from the last attended institute
  • Certificate from M.B.B.S. doctor/Govt. Hospital certifying blood group
  • In case of gap period, certificate from class –1 gazetted officer to certify no indulgence in criminal behavior
  • Proof of address along with name and location of nearest police station
  • Certificate of No Objection by current employer (for evening/part-time/Sponsored courses)​

Note: Self employed candidates have to show authentic evidence of self-employment.

  1. Fees for the first year can be paid by cash, online, or demand draft.

Examination

All candidates who seek admission to any of the JMI's offered courses have to appear for an Entrance Test that is conducted by JMI. The entrance test may or may not be followed by an interview. The decided syllabus along with the admit cards of the registered students are made available on the University's website.

The test for most of the Undergraduate courses is conducted in the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. Although some of the courses have their entrance exam conducted in multiple cities. These courses are:
