Jamia Millia Islamia B.Tech. ,B.E. and B.Arch. Admissions 2017

Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1920 by Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Shri A.M. Khwaja, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Dr. Zakir Husain, etc. at Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh). The campus shifted to Delhi in 1925. The University got its 'deemed' status in 1962. It is accredited 'A' by NAAC.

The admissions to B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses is based on the rank obtained in JEE (Main). The admissions to B.E. (Evening) courses is based on an entrance test taken by the University. Forms are available on the University's website.

The seats indicated for each course are the maximum seats. The University may or may not fill all of them.

Specialization:

Eligibility:

  1. The candidate must have be 17 years of age as on the 1st October on the year of admission.
  2. The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized Board.
  3. The candidate must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as main subjects.
  4. The candidate must have scored at least 55% in the three main subjects.OR
  5. The candidate must have a 3 or 4 yearDiploma in Engineering recognized by the AICTE or State Board with at least 55% marks.

Eligibility For B.E:

  1. The candidate must have a 3 or 4 yearDiploma in Engineering from a recognized Polytechnic or Technical Institute.
  2. The candidate should have at least 2 year of professional experience after the diploma.
  3. The candidates who have their diploma from University Polytechnic, JMI who have scored more than 70% are also eligible even without experience.

B.Arch

  1. The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
  2. The candidate must have English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as main subjects.
  3. The candidate must have scored at least 50% aggregate in these subjects.OR
  4. He/she must have a 3 year Diploma recognized by the Center/State Govt. with at least 50% marks.

Note: The candidates will be subject to an Aptitude Test before admission.


How To Apply

B.Arch & BE/B.Tech

  1. Candidates can get the application form JEE examination from http://jeemain.nic.in/jeemainapp/root/loginpage.aspx and for B.Tech./B.Arch. from JMI's admission portal - http://jmi.ac.in/admissions .
  2. The candidates have to fill the form online.
  3. The candidate has to upload a scanned copy of their colored passport sized photo (.jpeg format with size not exceeding 100KB) and their signature (Blue/Black ink on white paper).
  4. After filling the form, the candidates have to pay a registration fee of Rs.500/- either by Net Banking/Debit/Credit card or the fees can be paid in cash at any SBI branch by downloading the challan from the admission portal.
  5. The candidates are not required to upload any certificate etc.
  6. The following details are mandatory to be ready with the candidate before filling the form:
  • E-mail ID
  • Mobile Number
  • Scanned Photo
  • Scanned Signature
  • Credit/Debit Card (in case of online payment)

Note: When paying through debit/credit card, do not press back/refresh or close the window during the payment as it can cancel the payment.


Admission Process

B.Arch & BE/B.Tech

  1. The selection for B.tech and B.Arch. courses is based on the rank/marks scored by the candidate in JEE Mains 2016.
  2. The candidates for B.E. (Evening courses) are selected on the basis of an entrance test by the University.
  3. The candidates interested in applying for B.Tech. courses must appear in JEE (Main) 2016 Paper 1 examination.
  4. The candidates interested in applying for B.Arch. courses must appear in JEE (Main) 2016 Paper 2 examination.
  5. Candidates applying for both B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses must appear in both papers of JEE (Main) 2016.
  6. The allotment of seats will be according to JMI's Admission Procedure.
  7. The reservation of seats and merit will be solely based on rank obtained in JEE (Main) 2016.
  8. The selected candidates will be given a date to appear for the admission formalities.
  9. The selected candidates are to bring self-attested copies of JMI's Acknowledgement Slip, Registration Slip, JEE (Main) Admit Card, and JEE (Main) Score Card along with the following documents:
  • 10+2 or equivalent exam's marksheet
  • Age proof (High School/Senior Secondary School's marksheet)
  • Proof of entitlement to any reserved category (if applicable)
  • Character Certificate from the last attended institute
  • Certificate from M.B.B.S. doctor/Govt. Hospital certifying blood group
  • In case of gap period, certificate from class –1 gazetted officer to certify no indulgence in criminal behavior
  • Proof of address along with name and location of nearest police station

Fees for the first year can be paid by cash, online, or demand draft.

Examination

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common engineering entrance examination of objective pattern which is conducted for admission in various engineering colleges and courses all over the country. It is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging engineering admission tests.

The test consists of Paper – 1 (for B.Tech.) and Paper – 2 (for B.Arch.)

Both papers are of 3 hours and consist of 30 MCQ's each with 4 marks for correct and –1 marks for incorrect answer.
