Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra PG Admissions 2019: Cut Off, Application Process, Fees

BIT Mesra offers programs in collaboration with Indian institutes and industry. The institute offers PG courses for admission to the MBAM.E., M.Tech, Master of Urban Planning (MUP), M.Pharm and M.Sc. Programme for the academic year. All the programmes are for a duration of two years.

The entire Application process is online in BIT Mesra. There shall be reservation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Persons with Disability and Kashmiri Migrants as per Government of India norms. Eligibility

Candidates must hold a B.E. / B.Tech / AMIE or equivalent degree in the appropriate disciplines/branches mentioned below for the respective courses and must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category in graduation.

Note: You will be given preference if you have qualified GATE or GATE.

ME/M.Tech

Candidates must hold either of the following degrees:

  • B.E. / B.Tech / AMIE / MCA / equivalent degree in the appropriate disciplines/branches mentioned below for the respective courses, with a minimum 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category in graduation / MCA. 
  • M.Sc. / M.A. degree or equivalent in the appropriate disciplines/ branches mentioned below for the respective courses with at least 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category, after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in the 10+2+3 system from a recognized University.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Biotechnology)

B.E. / B.Tech in Biotechnology / Biochemical Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Food Technology / B. Pharm or equivalent OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Plant Biotechnology.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / Electrical or equivalent Or MCA or M. Sc in Computer Science or equivalent.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Environmental Science and Engineering)

B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent in any branch of Engineering OR M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences or equivalent degree in any branch of Life Sciences and Biological Sciences.

Master of Planning (Urban Planning)

Candidates must hold either of the following degrees:

  • B.Arch. / B. Planning or equivalent or B.E. in Civil Engineering with minimum 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category in graduation.
  • M.A. / M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Geography, Economics, Sociology or Statistics with a minimum of 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in 10+2+3 system from a recognized University.

Note: You will be given preference if you have qualified GATE.

Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) , Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] (Pharmaceutics) & Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] (Pharmacology)

Candidates must hold a B.Pharm degree from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute with a minimum 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category in graduation.

Note: You will be given preference if you have qualified GPAT.

M.Sc

Eligibility:

  •  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification from any recognized university or institution.
  • Candidates of B.Sc. / B.A. Honours must have minimum 55% marks, for general category 50% marks and for SC/ST category in their Honours subject. Candidates of other graduate courses must have minimum 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category in graduation.

MBA/PGDM

  • Candidate has must appear in any of the following entrance exams – CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT (Sept – Feb).
  • Candidate must possesses Bachelors’ Degree with 50% (45% for SC/ST) from recognized university or institute.
  • Candidate has must complete his education in the pattern of (10+2+3).
  • Candidates appearing in the final semester exam can also apply.


How To Apply

M.Pharm , ME/M.Tech & M.Sc

The Application Forms is to be filled online at the University website and submitted by the university. Candidates can use one application form at a time and only one discipline within that programme.

However, one application form can be used to apply for various specializations within some M.E. programmes (within a department) & within the M.Pharm programme, and in the case of ME (ECE- Wireless Communication) and M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) programmes, you may also use one application form to apply for different Places for Study (Centre), in order of preference.

Step 1:  Visit the University website and click on “Click Here to Apply Online”. 

Step 2: Register for the Application Form by filling in the required personal details and the programme you’re applying for. You must use the given username and password for login.

Step 3: Fill in the educational details and professional work experience details.

Step 4: Upload your recent colour passport size photograph which should not exceed 5kb in size.

Step 5: Save your Application for future changes or if the candidate completed the Application, click on “Generate Application Number”.

Step 6: After generation of ‘Application Number’, one must click on the link State Bank Collect for payment towards application fee of Rs. 2500 or general and OBC category and Rs. 1500 for SC/ST category, either through net banking, or a debit or credit card.

Step 7: Submit your Application Form and take a print out of the Application Form.

Step 8: You should attach the following enclosures with the Form (You must write your Name and “B.Pharm” on the back of each of the photocopies):

  • Class 10th certificate
  • Class 10th and Class 12th marksheet
  • Certificate and mark-sheets of Graduation
  • Certificate and mark-sheets of Post-Graduation
  • College Leaving Certificate
  • Migration Certificate
  • GATE/GPAT/CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT admit card and Score card (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate / special category certificate (if applicable) 
  • Photo identification
  • One recent colour photograph

Step 9: Candidate should then send the printed copy of Application Form along with the required enclosures and a copy of the Payment Receipt in an A4 size envelope with “Application for Course Name” written on top of the envelope, to the following address:

Admission Process

ME/M.Tech

 M.E., M.Tech, and MUP programmes:

  • For GATE qualified candidates: Your selection will be on the basis of scores you obtained in GATE, previous academic record and personal interviews / counselling.
  • Non-GATE candidates: Your selection will be on the basis of written test, previous academic record and personal interviews / counselling. However, your admission will be considered only after applicants who have qualified in GATE  have been considered and admitted, subject to the availability of seats. The Written test will have the same syllabus and paper pattern as the GATE Examination.

Note: There shall be no scholarship for candidates who haven’t qualified GATE.

M.Pharm

  •  GPAT Qualified candidates: Your selection will be on the basis of scores obtained in GPAT, and previous academic record and personal interviews / counselling.
  • Non-GPAT candidates: Your selection will be on the basis of written test, previous academic record and personal interviews / counselling. However, your admission will be considered only after applicants who have qualified in GPAT have been considered and admitted, subject to the availability of seats. The Written test will have the same syllabus and paper pattern as the GPAT Examination.

M.Sc

Candidates will be selected on the basis of previous academic record and counselling provided that they fulfil the eligibility criteria. There will be no scholarships for students of these programmes.

MBA/PGDM

Candidates will be selected on the basis of Cutoff of any of the exams: CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT. Then selected candidates have to appear in the GD/PI. After that those who are selected will be admited in the college. 


Reservation

The reservation criteria will be as per the norms prescribed by the state government of Jharkhand.

  •  1 seat at all Centres in each programme shall be reserved for candidates who are Sons or Daughters of Kashmiri Migrant who otherwise have qualified for admissions.
  • At Mesra centre, 50% of the total seats shall be reserved for candidates from Jharkhand State, and the remaining 50% of the total seats are distributed in the rest of the states.


Notes

Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes will be eligible only if:

  • The programmes are recognized by the tripartite panel of AICTE-UGC-DEC.
  • They have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 55% marks in average for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST category.
  • They must enclose photocopy of pass certificate and mark-sheets of qualifying examination with their application.
