Birla Institute of Technology Mesra (BIT MESRA) is an Institute of higher education and a deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. It was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi in the state of Jharkhand by the philanthropist and industrialist Late Shri. B. M. Birla.

The main campus at Mesra is a wholly residential campus. Following the establishment of the main campus in Mesra, extension centres have been established in several regions of India as well as offshore centres in Ras al-Khaimah, UAE and Muscat, Oman. There is also a GP Birla BIT Scholarship worth nearly Rupees 2.25 crores available for meritorious students of BIT.

The Institute invites Applications for admission to the Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme for the academic year. It is a full time programme offered for a duration of 4 years comprising 8 semesters. The total available seats for the programme are 60 seats. The admission to the programme will be based on merit comprising marks obtained in JEE (Main) and academic record.

You should have passed the Class 12th or I.Sc. or equivalent examination with at least English, Physics, Chemistry as compulsory subjects and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology. You should also have scored a minimum of 50% marks for general category and 45% marks for SC/ST/PwD category.

In case any Board awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent marks would be based on the procedure prescribed by the Board.

You should also have appeared in JEE (Main)  or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG).

Age: You should be not more than 25 years in case of general category and 30 years in case of SC/ST/PWD category.

How To Apply


The Application Forms are to be filled online at the University website and submitted to the college.

Step 1: You must visit the University website and click on “Click Here to Apply Online”. A login page will open where you will see 2 options, to register or to login in case you have already registered.

Step 2: You should register for the Application Form by filling in the required personal details and the programme you’re applying for. You must use the given username and password for login.

Step 3: You must fill in the educational details including the JEE Main and NEET-UG details.

Step 4: You should then upload your recent colour passport size photograph which should not exceed 5kb in size.

Step 5: You can now either save your Application for future changes or if you have completed the Application, click on “Generate Application Number”.

Step 6: After generation of ‘Application Number’, you must click on the link State Bank Collect for payment towards application fee of Rs. 1500 or general and OBC category and Rs. 1000 for SC/ST category, either through net banking, or debit or credit card.

Step 7: You must then submit your Application Form and take a print out of the Application Form.

Step 8: You should attach the following enclosures with the Form (You must write your Name and “B.Pharm” on the back of each of the photocopies):

  • Class 10th certificate
  • Class 10th and Class 12th marksheet
  • Admit Card of JEE (Main) or NEET-UG 
  • Score Card of JEE (Main) or NEET-UG 
  • Caste certificate (if applicable) which should be in proper format and signed by appropriate authority of rank not less than SDO
  • Photo identification
  • One recent colour photograph with your Name and “B.Pharm” written on the back

Step 9: You should then send the printed copy of the Application Form along with the required enclosures and a copy of the Payment Receipt to the following address:

Admission Process


You will be selected on the basis of merit with the following distribution of marks:

  • 60% weightage will be given to marks obtained in JEE (Main)  / National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEETUG) Score and
  • 40% weightage will be given to academic performance (marks in Class 12th / equivalent qualifying examination)

Note: The marks in Class 12th will be computed as average of following 4 subjects - English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology.


The reservation criteria will be based on the policy of the respective state governments in case of state quota seats.

For the remaining seats, the reservation criteria will be as follows:

Scheduled Caste15%
Scheduled Tribe7.5%
Persons with Disability3%

Up to one seat may be allotted to the candidates who are Sons or Daughters of Kashmiri Migrant and who have otherwise have qualified for admissions.

Of the total seats, 50% seats will be reserved for candidates who have passed their Class 12th qualifying exam from Jharkhand State.


If you have a foreign diploma, you should see the EdCIL website for equivalence and if required, you should obtain an equivalence certificate well in advance from the evaluation division of the AIU.
