Banasthali University M.Phil and Ph.D Admissions 2019: Placement, Result, Fees

Banasthali University is situated in Tonk, Rajasthan. Banasthali Vidyapith is a women only university which offers education from primary to university level. Banasthali University is known for its equal emphasis on education and extra-curricular activity.

Banasthali Vidyapith offers Research courses viz. M.Phil and Ph.D in multiple streams such as education, design, science, arts, management, and music. Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D courses based on performance in merit-cum-aptitude test and marks scored in Research Aptitude Test (RET), respectively. The entrance exam for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D programme is usually conducted in the month of June/December every year.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy

For Ph.D programmes:

In case of Ph.D admissions, candidates (only women) should have obtained Master’s degree in the relevant field of study with at least 55% aggregate of marks or should have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Candidate who possess at least 5 years work experience (Teaching/Industrial/Research) may be given relaxation of 5% in the minimum required aggregate by the Vice-Chancellor for registration to Ph.D programme

Exemption from the requirement of appearing in RET:

  • A candidate who have qualified NET, SLET, GATE or M.Phil. (If the candidate was admitted to M.Phil. through a research entrance test) may be exempted from the entrance test.
  • A candidate belonging to the Faculty of Fine Arts (Visual Art, Music & Dance) and Design, will be exempted from the entrance examination. Such candidates should contact the research section separately.

For M.Phil programmes:

For M.Phil admissions, candidates (only women) must possess MA/M.Sc degree in the relevant field of specialization with at least 55% aggregate of marks.

Banasthali University application process begins in February every year. The application form can be submitted both online and offline. The procedure to obtain application form is given below:

  • To obtain application form in offline mode a candidate can send a Demand Draft of 800 INR (1700 INR in case of late submission) drawn in favor of Banasthali Vidyapith payable at Banasthali/Jaipur to the following address:

Online Application Form

The application form for PG courses at Banasthali University can also be accessed on the official website of the university. The steps to obtain application form online is given below:

  1. Visit the official website for Banasthali University.
  2. On the homepage click on the Admission tab. You can locate this tab on the left hand side of the page.
  3. Click on the Online Admission Form tab.

While applying through the online mode, a candidate must have DD of 800 INR (1700 INR in case of late submission) drawn in favor of Banasthali Vidyapith,payable at Banasthali/Jaipur. Online application forms cannot be submitted without the requisite demand draft details.

Selection Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy

For M.Phil programme:

Selection of candidates to M.Phil programme will be done based on merit-cum-aptitude test, conducted by the university itself in the month of June every year.

For Ph.D programme:

Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to Ph.D programme on the basis of their performance in Research Entrance Test (RET), conducted by the university in December every year.

Duration of RET – 120 minutes 

Mode of Examination – Online

Pattern of RET - 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs)

  • 30 questions – Research Aptitude
  • 70 questions – Relevant Subject


Application Process for Foreign/NRI candidates

The University has a limited number of seats reserved for foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored candidates. For such candidates, the University considers marks scored in the qualifying examination and does not conduct any aptitude test.

Foreign candidates will need to submit the following documents at the time of admission:

  1. Original certificates/Mark sheets of the qualifying examination.
  2. Duly attested photocopy of the passport and visa of the applicant or guardian.
  3. NRI Account Number or Foreign Bank Account Number of the applicant/guardian.
  4. Declaration regarding the NRI status of the applicant or guardian
