The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) MBA Admission 2020: Admit Card, Placement, Dates, Result, Fees

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is an autonomous public Business school  and a deemed University established in 1963 by the Government of India (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) . IIFT is UGC recognized  which aims at  helping and professionalizing the country's foreign trade management and increasing exports of the country.

It is the only institute among the top-10 business schools of India that offers International Business program. Candidates with the Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years in any discipline can register for the MBA programme. Seats are reserved as per Government rules. The reservations are subject to candidates meeting the admission requirement of the Institute under different categories. 49.5% seats are reserved for the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/NRI etc.

The eligible contenders, can register themselves offline or    online through the university website and submit the application form (online or offline) along with required documents and processing fee.

Candidates are selected for MBA programme on the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview. The candidates qualifying written test shall be called for subsequent phase of selection process comprising Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview.

Application Process

The candidates can apply for admissions by filling and submitting the complete application form along with the required amount of processing fee and important documents. Candidate can apply either online or offline

Offline mode:

The application form may be collected on payment of INR 1550/- (INR 775/- for SC/ST/PH candidates and INR 4500/- for Foreign Nationals/NRIs/Children of NRIs) in cash personally from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi-110016 OR 1583 Madhurdaha, Ward No. 108, Borough XII, Kolkata-700107  . The Brochure and Application Form may be obtained by sending Demand draft of the required amount to the latter. Candidate must write his/her name and address on the back of the Demand Draft

Online mode:

The candidates can also obtain the application form by visiting IIFT website at Click on the Admission  icon and fill in the online form as per details given in website.

Important steps for filling in the application form:

  1. Fill the application form manually with the necessary information
  2. Enclose the application form with the important documents.
  3.  Duly filled in application forms must be sent to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, and New Delhi-110016 so as to reach IIFT.
  4. Candidate must keep the Xerox copy of the completed applications for subsequent use

The candidate must send/submit the photo affixed and duly signed application and the following copies of following documents:

  1. Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC) issued by the competent authority- if required
  2. Certificates for Special categories( physically challenged),  issued by valid /competent authority-if required  
  3. Demant draft  of Rs.1550/- (Rs.775/- for SC/ST/PH candidates and Rs.4500/- for Foreign Nationals/NRIs/Children of NRIs) – in case of online application form  

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates from India and foreign countries are eligible for admission.
  • Applicants who have passed recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years in any discipline are eligible for admission.
  • Candidates can apply on provisional basis if he/she is appearing in the final year examination of Graduation /has result awaited. Such candidate must submit proof of requisite qualification which otherwise may lead in the cancellation of their admission.
  • There is no age limit criteria imposed on the aspirant aspiring for admission
  • Candidates from India are required to qualify in the Entrance test conducted by the University itself whereas for  foreign candidates GMAT score is considered


Seats are reserved according to the policy of Government of India. IIFT has a total number of 300 seats for the next academic year. 240 are located in the Delhi campus and 60 at the Kolkata campus.

Admission Process

IIFT shall select the candidates on the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview. The university shall take the written test. The performance of the candidate in the written test shall decide the merit of the candidate. Based on which, he /she shall be called for subsequent selection phases.

The final selection of the candidate will be on the overall performance in all the selection phases which include Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview.

The IIFT Admission Test shall be based on multiple choice objective type written test (in English) based on English Comprehension, General Knowledge and Awareness, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Analysis.



To facilitate the meritorious students with financial aid, the University has the provision of scholarships. There are number Of Banks tied up with IIFT that offer educational loans to the Students at a moderate rate of interest. The University offers the following scholarships to the candidates:

  • Need Based Scholarship Scheme 
  • “Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for SC/ST Students”
  • 1st five toppers each year are also given a scholarship of Rs. 50,000.
  • Educational loans shall be provided to the financially weak candidates on minimum interest and no guarantee.


IIFT provides separate hostel facility for boys and girls in both the campuses. The university hostels come with its own luxuries such as mess, 24/7 availability of electricity, cool water and Wi-Fi service. The hostel rooms are spacious with a desk and chair for each candidate. There is an attached bathroom for every room as well.
