Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, established in the year 1993, under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, as a modern super specialty hospital, and was granted the status of a university in the year 1995 by an act of A.P. State legislature. The major objectives of SVIMS includes service, training and education in advanced medical sciences and technology. Latest technology in diagnostic wing and total computer automation of patient care has been implemented in this institution for the first time in our Country. 

SVIMS has been recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) since 2003 for conducting various DM, MCh and MD courses. The University invites Applications for admission to the Postgraduate Programmes of M.Sc. (Nursing), Master of Physiotherapy (MPT), M.Sc. Programme and Postgraduate Diploma Programme for the academic year. The admission to the courses will be based on the Entrance Exam conducted by the SVIMS University, different for each course.

Application Procedure

You can obtain the Application Form along with the Prospectus in the following ways:

  • In Person: You can obtain the Application Form from the Office of the Registrar, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati - 517 507 on payment of Rs.500 (Rupees one thousand only) by way of Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “The Director, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati”.
  • By Post: You can also obtain the Application Form by post on submission of a Demand Draft for Rs.550 (Rupees one thousand and fifty only) along with self-addressed request letter.
  • Online: You can also download the Application Form from the website. In this case, you shall have to pay the Application fee of Rs.500 (Rupees one thousand only) by way of Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “The Director, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati” at the time of the final submission of the Form.

You should fill the Form completely in your own handwriting in Block Letters. You should not leave any column blank or incomplete.

You must affix a recent passport size colour photograph in the space provided.

You should prominently specify the name of the course for which application is made, on the top of the relevant column of the application.

Enclosures: You should enclose the copies of the following documents:

  • Caste Certificate, if applicable

Eligibility Criteria

  • You should have passed B.Sc. Nursing or B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination from an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
  • You should be a registered nurse and registered midwife or equivalent with any state nursing registration council.
  • The candidates qualifying post basic B.Sc. (Nursing) from IGNOU through distance education are also eligible, if the study centre is recognized by INC.
  • You should have a minimum one year of work experience after basic B.Sc. Nursing
  • You should medically fit.


The statutory reservations will be applicable to the candidates of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes belonging to the State of Andhra Pradesh only.

  • Admission to 85% of the seats shall be reserved in favour of the local candidates in relation to S.V University region comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Cuddapah and Nellore in the following distribution:

  • There shall be 3% reservation (horizontal basis) for differently-abled (PH) with locomotive disability of lower limbs between 50% - 70%.
  • 33.33% of seats are guaranteed for women candidates in each category i.e. open competition, SC, ST, BC and other reservations.

Selection Process

Your selection will be based on the merit obtained in the Entrance Test conducted by SVIMS University, at B.Sc. (Nursing) standard prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council. The test will have 100 questions of multiple choice format having four options, one of which would be correct. The duration of the examination shall be 90 minutes.
