Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes in different specialisations.

SPMVV invites Applications for admission to M.Phil.Programme and Ph.D. Programme for the academic year 2020-2021. Research for both M.Phil. Degree and Ph.D. degree can be carried out on a full- time or part-time basis. The research for M.Phil. shall be uni-disciplinary. Application Procedure

There is a common Application Procedure for both M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programmes. Candidate can download the Application Form from the University website. One should fill in the form with the required personal and educational details. 

Application Fee: Application fee of Rs. 1650 for General category and Rs.1100 for SC/ST/PHC category through DD which is to be drawn in favour of the Registrar, SPMVV, Tirupati.

Enclosures: Applicant should attach the following tabulated documents given below:

  • Demand Draft
  • Two self-addressed envelopes 22 cm X 10 cm size one stamped worth Rs.10/- and the other stamped worth Rs.45/-
  • PG marks statement and Degree Certificate (attested copy)
  • Integrated permanent caste certificate in case of SC/ST/BC applicants (attested copy)
  • Evidence of PHC from Government Civil Surgeon
  • NET/SLET/JRF/GATE/GPAT certificate to the validity of the score examination if applicable
  • Certificate of SSC or its equivalent as proof of date of birth
  • Service certificate for Part-time admission

  • Full Time: Postgraduate degree of the concerned/ related subject from recognized University, with at least a Second Class with a minimum of 55% of marks for general category and 50% marks in the case of SC/ST/PHC category
  •  Part Time: One should be a member of the staff of any academic/ research/ professional/ technical institution. You should have a minimum work experience for a period of two years and currently holding a position.


  • Full Time: Postgraduate degree of any recognized University, with at least Second Class with a minimum of 55% of marks (50% for SC / ST/PHC category) in the concerned subject.
  • Part Time: One should be a member of the staff of any recognized academic/ research/ professional/technical institution. You should have a minimum work experience of one year and currently holding a position.


Admission to 85% of the available seats shall be reserved in favour of the local areas: Andhra, Telangana, and Rayalaseema. Reservation for SC/ST/BC/PHC and other categories shall be followed as per the rules prescribed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. 

Selection Procedure

For both M.Phil. And Ph.D. Programmes:

The candidate will be selected on the basis of Research Entrance Test (RESET) conducted by the University followed by a Personal Interview.


The entrance test will be of two and a half hours. The test is divided into two sections. Part-A will have 50 objective types of questions for 50 marks. Part B shall have the descriptive type of questions for 50 marks containing 5 short essays out of eight questions of 10 marks each. The question paper and medium of writing RESET will be in English except for Telugu studies.

Candidate should be able to get a minimum 50% of marks in the entrance test for general category and 45% marks for reserved category.

Personal Interview

After clearing the entrance test, candidates have to attend the interview. At the time of interview, one must have to submit the area of proposed research topic along with the research design.
Exemptions: Qualified UGC/CSIR/NET/SET/GATE/GPAT candidates will be exempted from writing SPMVV RESET. 50% of the seats are marked for those who are qualified in UGC/CSIR/ NET/SET/GATE/GPAT.
