Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Hotel Management Admission 2019

Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University (SOA) was formerly Institute of Technical Education and Research and was granted the stature of a deemed to be university in 2007. The university has been granted “A Grade” by NAAC for its high standards both in terms of academics and infrastructure. At present the university offers UG, PG, and Research courses in multiple disciplines through its nine degree granting schools and colleges.

In the field of Hotel Management, the University offers admission to the Bachelor in Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT), Lateral Entry in BHMCT, Master of Hospitality Management (MHM) and Master of Tourism & Travel Management (MTTM) Programme. The BHMCT Programme is for a duration of 4 years whereas the MHM and MTTM Programmes are for a duration of 2 years each.

The entire application process is online and must be completed. The admission for the programmes will be based on SAAT (Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test). The University will conduct counselling process for candidates who qualify SAAT.

Eligibility for BHMCT Programme

Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology [BHMCT]

BHMCT Programme (Lateral Entry)

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate must have passed or should be appearing in 10+2 examination from any stream, Science, Commerce or Arts, with at least 45% marks in case of general category and 40% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC category.

Candidates with Diploma degree in Hotel Management can apply for BHMCT Lateral Entry Programme.


Application Procedure

For SAAT:

You can access the Application Form online on the University website.

Step 1: Visit the official website and click on the tab for online application form. You must fill in your Name, Date of Birth, Email id and Mobile number.

Step 2: You will receive an OTP on your mobile number after filling the above-mentioned information. You must enter the OTP to proceed to the Application Form.

Step 3: Fill in the Form with the required personal and educational details.

Step 4: Upload the scanned copy of your photograph and signature. Your photograph should be recent colour passport size photograph

Step 5: Submit your Application Form by clicking on the “Final Submission” tab.

Step 6: Download your Application Copy and take a print out of the application form for future reference. The application form will be sent to your email inbox as well.

The acknowledgement for the receipt of the SAAT application will be intimated to your Email-Id and Mobile Number through SMS.


Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected for Hotel Management on the basis of SAAT (Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test) Examination. However, there will be a separate paper for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The paper will have multiple-choice type questions. The number of questions will be 60 per each hour of exam. Each question will have four probable answers with only one correct answer. For every correct answer candidate will be awarded 4 marks and for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted from the total. There is no penalty for unanswered questions.

For UG course in Hotel Management, the questions will be asked from General Reasoning, Language, and Aptitude of 10+2 level. In case of PG courses, the test paper will have subject specific questions.


Reservation

  • 15% and 7.5% seats in all programmes are reserved respectively for candidates belonging to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe by birth (not by marriage or adoption). SC/ST candidates from Odisha who are staying outside the state have to produce SC/ST certificate from the competent authority of Odisha State during counselling.
  • 30% of seats under each category for all the programmes are reserved for women candidates.
  • 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped (PH) candidates.
