Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University (SOA) is a private deemed-to-be University situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The university’s primary focus is on education through research It has been accredited by the NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. SOA comprises of nine degree-granting schools and colleges and has a student strength of over 10,000 in number. The university offers programs with well-designed curriculum in the fields of engineering, medicine, pharmacy, business, nursing, biotechnology, science, humanities, environment, nanotechnology, materials science, agriculture and law.

Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University (SOA) also has an excellent placement record with as many as 97 companies recruiting the graduates of the year. Some of the prominent companies include Wipro and Infosys.

Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA offers admission to the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) Programme in various specializations for the academic year. The admission to B.Tech. Programme will be on the basis of JEE Main Examination, whereas for M.Tech. Programme, it will be on the basis of the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test (SAAT) /GATE Score. The entire application process is online and must be complete.

The University offers the following specializations under the B.Tech. Programme:

You must fulfil any of the following criteria:

  • You should have passed or should be appearing  at 10+2 or equivalent Examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry / Computer Science / Information Technology /Biotechnology / Biology / Informatics / Statistics or any other subject as approved by appropriate authority, by securing at least 50% marks in aggregate in case of general category and 45% marks in case SC / ST / OBC category.
  • You should have passed in Diploma in Engineering / Technology with less than 60% marks in aggregate.

You should have passed or should be appearing in the final examinations for B.E. / B.Tech / AMIE / MCA / M.Sc. Degree in the respective discipline or equivalent, with a minimum of 50% marks in case of general category and 45% marks in case of reserved category.

The Degree specific requirements are as follows:

  • For M.Tech. Computer Science & Data Processing: You should have passed MCA and M.Sc. (Maths) degree.
  • For M.Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering and M.Tech. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering: You should have passed M.Sc. (Electronics) Degree
  • For M.Tech. Computer Science & Engineering and CS & IT respectively: You should have passed M.Sc. (Electronics) Degree, and M.Sc. in Computer Science and IT respectively.
  • For M.Tech. Environmental Science & Technology: You should have passed MCA and M.Sc. (Maths) degree.
  • For B.Tech. (Environmental / Chemical / Civil / Mechanical / Metallurgy): You should have passed M.Sc. (Environmental Science / Chemistry / Biotechnology / Geology / Life Science / Botany.
  • For M.Tech. Material Science & Technology: candidate must have M.Sc. (Physics) / M.Sc. (Chemistry) / B.Tech. (Electronics & Communication Engineering) / B.Tech (Electrical Engineering)
  • For M.Tech. Biotechnology: candidates having B.Tech./B.E. in Biotechnology or related fields / M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science or equivalent / MBBS / B.Pharm./B.V.Sc. with Biology as a subject at +2 level are eligible.

Application Procedure

BE/B.Tech & ME/M.Tech

You can access the Application Form online on the University website.

Step 1: You will first have to log in to the Application Form. You must fill in your Name, Date of Birth, Email id and Mobile number.

Step 2: You will receive an OTP on your mobile number after filling the above mentioned information. You must enter the OTP to proceed to the Application Form.

Step 3: You must fill in the Form with the required personal and educational details.

Step 4: You should upload the scanned copy of your photograph and signature. Your photograph should be recent colour passport size photograph

Step 5: You should then submit your Application Form by clicking on the “Final Submission” tab.

Step 6: You must download your Application Copy and take the print out of the application form for future reference. The application form will be send to your mail.

The acknowledgement for the receipt of the SAAT application will be intimated to your Email-Id and Mobile Number through SMS.

Selection Process


You will be selected on the basis of SAAT/JEE – Mains.

The paper will have multiple-choice type questions. The number of questions will be 60 per each hour of exam. Each question shall have four probable answers with only one is correct answer. Every correct answer shall carry four marks. There will also be negative marking where each incorrect answer will lead to deduction of one mark. Each un-answered question will carry zero mark.

Exemptions: You will be exempted from writing the SAAT Written Examination if you have qualified the GATE Examination. In this case, you will have to appear for an Interview and your final selection will be based on a valid GATE score and personal interview taken together.


  • 15% and 7.5% seats in all programmes are reserved respectively for candidates belonging to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe by birth (not by marriage or adoption). However, SC/ST candidates from Odisha who are staying outside the state have to produce SC/ST certificate from the competent authority of Odisha State during counselling.
  • 30% of seats under each category for all the programmes are reserved for women candidates.
  • 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped (PH) candidates for admission to engineering / technology / Medical / Dental / MBA / MCA / HMCT / Pharmacy / Nursing / Law / Biotechnology / Agriculture.
