GBU M.Phil and Ph.D. Admission 2020: Application, Eligibility, Entrance Examination

Gautam Buddha University (GBU)  Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh offers admission to M.Phil and Ph.D. Admission will be based on an entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

Masters' degree holders in relevant subjects will be eligible for admission.

Application form can be filled online through the official website of GBU. Application fee of INR 1200/-(general category) and INR 600/-(for SC/ST category) should be submitted though Net Banking/Debit/Credit Card.

SET/NET/JRF qualified candidates will get preference and will be exempted from the online entrance examination.

Eligibility

Course wise Eligibility

M.Phil

M.Phil. (Buddhist Studies)

Masters degree holder in relevant subjects. Minimum 55% marks (50% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category) should be secured in the qualifying examination from any recognized university. Preference will be given to Post-graduate students of Buddhist Studies, History, Pali, Sanskrit, and Philosophy.

M.Phil. (Clinical Psychology)Candidates must have Postgraduate degree in Psychology from with minimum 55% marks for general candidates and 50% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category from a recognized university in India

Ph.D

Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering) & Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering)Candidate must possess M.Tech./ME degree in relevant discipline from any recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category).
Ph.D. (Applied Chemistry) Master’s degree in Chemistry from a recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for SC/ST category candidates).
Ph.D. (Applied Physics)Candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Physics from a recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category)
Ph.D. (Applied Mathematics)Candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Mathematics from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks and 50% marks (for candidates belonging to SC/ST category)
Ph.D. (Biotechnology)

Candidate must possess a Master’s degree in any discipline of Life Sciences from a recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category).

Ph.D. (Architecture and Planning)

Candidate must possess M.Tech./ME degree in civil engineering/ chemical/ environmental/ biotechnology in a relevant area from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks and 50% marks (for candidates belonging to SC/ST category)
Doctor of Philosophy in LawCandidate must possess LLM degree from a recognized university in India with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category)


How to Apply

Application form can be filled online through the official website of GBU.

  2. Select course and tap “Apply”
  3. Register by entering name, email id and contact number
  4. Tap “Create Account”
  5. Enter the required personal information
  6. Type academic details
  7. Upload scanned photograph and supporting documents
  8. Pay application fee of INR 1200/-(general category) and INR 600/-(SC/ST category)
  9. Click “Submit”
  10. Take a print out of the submitted application form for future reference

Admission Process

Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering) , M.Phil. (Clinical Psychology) & Ph.D. (Applied Chemistry)

Admission to M.Phil and Ph.D will be based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

  • University will upload a merit list of qualified candidates in the entrance exam
  • Qualified students will be invited for interview via mail
  • Final merit list will be uploaded according to the performance in the entrance examination and interview.
  • SET/NET/JRF qualified candidates will be exempted from the entrance test

The entrance test will have three sections  - Subject Awareness, English proficiency, and General Knowledge.

Subject Awareness will have maximum weightage that of 70% marks. The rest of the two sections will carry 15% weightage each.

GBU conducts GPTR or General Proficiency Test for Research Programs for admission to Doctoral programs. The exam will be of 2 hours duration and carry 100 marks. The pattern for GPTR is given below:

Reservation Process

Seats will be reserved for the SC/ST/OBC category candidate as per the Uttar Pradesh Government rules and Gautam Buddha University rules.
