Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai is a renowned university funded by the Government of Maharashtra. ICT Mumbai is rated as number one in Chemical Engineering and Technology in India, also as number one among all non-USA universities according to the surveys conducted by Georgia Tech over the years.

ICT, Mumbai offers M.Chem. Engg., M.Tech., M.Pharma. and Post Graduate Programmes. ICT offers M.Tech. in 11 different specializations and 3 different specializations in M.Pharm. The university offers 4 different specializations in M.Sc.

The application process for PG courses at ICT can be completed online. The basic qualification required for applying to PG courses at ICT is an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. There are separate selection criteria for M.Tech., M.Pharm., and M.Sc. courses. Check ICT Admission 2019

How To Apply

  1. The candidates seeking admission at ICT Mumbai must obtain the appropriate application form for the chosen course along with the handbook. The application form for full time and sponsored courses are separate.
  2. The admission form and Handbook will be available for sale at the ICT counter from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. by cash payment expect on 2nd & 4th Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.
  3. The application forms can also be ordered by post or downloaded from the ICT Mumbai website
  4. When ordering form by post the payment should include the amount equal to the "By Post" amount and be made only by a Pay Order/DD of any Nationalized/ Scheduled/ Private Sector Commercial Bank drawn in favour of ''INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY, Mumbai'', payable at Mumbai, the payment is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.
  5. Payment by cheque or money order will not be accepted.
  6. Registered Post Parcel along with the Handbook will send the admission form requested by post.
  7. The application form must be filled with relevant information.
  8. Writing contact details such as permanent address, address for correspondence, Mobile No./ Telephone No./ and email address in the application form is important. Do not leave any field blank.
  9. The completely filled forms should be submitted along with the attested photocopies of the documents.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying to Master of Chemical Engineering program or any of the programs offered at ICT must fulfill any of the following eligibility criteria:

  1. B.Chem.Engg. or B.E. / B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering/ Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engg.
  2. B.Chem. Engg./ B. Sc.(Tech.)/ B.Tech - in any branch of Chemical Technology/ Biotechnology/ B. Pharm. from ICT or any equivalent examination of IIT/NIT or any other University recognized by the UGC, with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (55% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA for the backward class candidate].
  3. B.Tech. or B.Sc. in Textile Processing/ Textile Chemistry or  B.Text. (Textile Chemistry) or BE in Textile Chemistry or Textile Technology or B.Tech. in Textile Chemistry or Textile Technology or B.Tech. in Fibres and Textile processing Technology/ Fibre Technology with significant emphasis on chemical processing of textiles.
  4. B.Tech. in Food Engineering and Technology or B.E./ B.Tech. in Food Engineering/ Food Technology/ Food Science/ Food Process Technology/ Food Process Engineering, or B.Sc. (Tech.) in Food Technology.
  5. B.Sc. (Tech.) in Oils Technology or B. Tech. in Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactants Technology.
  6. B.Sc. (Tech.) in Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemicals or B. Tech.   in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology or equivalent B.Tech. with Pharmacy background only.
  7. B.Tech. in Polymer Engineering and Technology /Surface Coating Technology or B.Sc. (Tech.) in Technology of Plastics/ Technology of Paints/ Rubber Technology or  B.E. in Polymer Engg. / Plastic Engg./ Petrochemical Engineering.
  8. B.Sc. (Tech.) in Paints Technology / Plastics Technology or B.Tech. in Paints Technology / Polymer Engineering and Technology or B.Chem.Tech. in Paints Technology/ Polymer Engineering/ Polymer Technology/ Plastic Technology or B.E. in Paints Technology/ Polymer Engineering/ Polymer Technology/ Plastic Technology/ Plastic Engineering.

M.Tech. In Bioprocess Technology

Apart from the eligibility conditions mentioned for M.Tech. courses, candidates with B.Pharm. degree with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

M.Tech. in Food Biotechnology

Candidate must have passed B.Tech. degree in Food Engineering and Technology from either ICT or any other recognized university/institute.


Candidate must have a B. Tech. or B.Sc. (Tech.) or B.E. in Food Engineering and Technology/ Food Engineering/ Food Technology

/ Food Science/ Food Process Technology/ Food Process Engineering/ Dairy Technology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engineering/ Pharmaceutical Technology/ Oil Technology from a UGC recognized university/institute.

M.Tech. in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or degree in Pharmaecutical Technology or Biotechnology or Biochemical Engineering or Bachelors in Chemical Engineering or equivalent with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (55% marks for candidates in Backward Classes).

M.Tech. in Green Technology, M.Tech. in Perfumery and Flavor Technology

Candidate should have a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering or B.Sc. (Tech.) or B.Tech. in any branch of Chemical technology/biotechnology or B.Pharm. with 60% marks in aggregate (55% marks for candidates in Backward Classes).

Candidates with M.Sc. degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology or Biochemistry can also apply.


  1. Reservation for SC/ST categories on All India basis is applicable to all the Masters' courses (M.Chem.Engg., M.Pharm., M.Tech. (all branches), M.E.(Plastic Engg.)), M.Sc. in ICT Mumbai is as per the Government norms.
  2. The candidates applying under the Backward Class Category will be required to submit the Caste Certificate at the time of admission, to attain the reservation. If the candidate fails to present the Caste Certificate he/she will be treated General Candidate.

Admission Process

For M.Pharma., the candidates will be selected on the basis of the merits in GPAT. For M.Tech., the candidates will be selected on the basis of their GATE score.

For M.Sc. courses, candidates will be selected on the basis of the written examination followed by an interview conducted by the respective department of the University.
