Program Description

  • BMath in Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo is offered a 4-years (8 semesters) program.
  • This course is offered on a full-time basis.
  • In this program, students will take courses such as the mathematics of finance, risk theory, and pension mathematics taught by professional actuaries in one of North America’s top actuarial schools.
  • Students can also choose the regular stream or the co-op stream and ready to enter a great job market with great prospects and high starting salaries.
  • The Canadian Institute of Actuaries has accredited Waterloo’s Actuarial Science program, students can be exempted from several of their exams.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • The students must have completed six Grade 12 U and/or M courses including
    • Advanced Functions
    • Calculus and Vectors
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • English (ENG4U)
  • Students encouraged to take AFM 101, ECON 101, or ECON 102 as first-year electives to satisfy the degree requirements for Actuarial Science.
  • A minimum final grade of 70% is required in all the above subjects mentioned during admission.
  • Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE.

Indian Student Eligibility:

  • First or Second Division standing in one of the following:
    • All India Senior School Certificate awarded by CBSE.
    • Indian School Certificate awarded by CISCE.
    • other pre-university certificate awarded after 12 years of academic studies.
  • Standard XII Mathematics, Standard XII Physics, Standard XII Chemistry, Standard XII English, and one other Standard XII course, a minimum final grade of 70% in each.
  • Overall 85% in the above 5 required courses.
