Douglas College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Indian applicants are assessed on Class 12 results for Bachelor’s, Associate, and Diploma programs, and on a completed Bachelor’s for Post-Baccalaureate Diplomas.
Post-Baccalaureate Requirements
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree with 55% aggregate or CGPA 5.5 out of 10 (recommended, from a recognised Indian university)
- English: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 (Post-Baccalaureate rule); or TOEFL iBT 83 with Writing 21; PTE Academic 56; Duolingo English Test 110
- Documents: Official transcripts, English test score report, passport bio page, statement of purpose for select programs
- Programme-specific: Health Information Management requires biology or life-science background at Bachelor’s level
Undergraduate Requirements
- Academic: Class 12 with 60% aggregate for Associate degrees, 65% for Bachelor’s, 70% for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (recommended)
- English: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall; TOEFL iBT 83; PTE 56; DET 110; TOEFL Essentials 9 (no section below 8)
Key insight: Douglas College waives the English test requirement for Indian applicants who have completed Class 12 with English as the medium of instruction, evidenced by an official school letter on letterhead.
Douglas College Acceptance Rate 2027
Douglas College does not publish an official acceptance rate. Third-party derived analysis of application-to-offer ratios places the figure at 25% (estimated) across international programs, which places Douglas College in the moderately selective bracket for BC public colleges.
Acceptance is program-specific: the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Data Analytics are markedly harder to enter than the general Associate of Arts pathway. Rolling review means early applicants clear the cohort cap first.
Reality check: An Indian applicant with Class 12 above 70% and IELTS 6.5 lands in the strong-fit band. Below 60% Class 12 with only IELTS 6.0 shifts applicants toward the pathway English programs before degree entry.

Douglas College Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Douglas College tracks graduate employment through the BC Student Outcomes survey, and outcomes vary by faculty.
- Employment rate: 90% of Douglas College graduates are employed within 2 years of completion, per BC Student Outcomes data
- Median annual salary: CAD 55,000 to CAD 65,000 (INR 38 to 44.9 lakh) for Bachelor’s graduates in BC, labeled as BC market median for early-career hires
- Post-Graduation Work Permit: Bachelor’s programs qualify for up to a 3-year PGWP; Post-Baccalaureate Diplomas qualify for the same 3-year permit when the study is 2 years or longer
- Recruitment sectors: Metro Vancouver healthcare providers, provincial public sector, retail-banking employers, and Metro Vancouver hospitality operators recruit heavily from BBA, BSN, and Health Information cohorts
- Career support: The Career Centre delivers resume clinics, job fairs, and one-on-one coaching to all current students and alumni within 6 months of graduation
Insider note: Douglas College graduates in Data Analytics and International Supply Chain Management typically start with Metro Vancouver logistics operators and BC-registered analytics vendors within 3 months of PGWP issue.
Douglas College vs Peer Universities
Douglas College sits alongside other BC public teaching institutions in the moderate-fee mid-tier bracket. Peer comparison uses BC teaching institutions plus one cross-country reference.
| Institution | QS Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad 2026 | Avg Annual Fee (CAD, INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Douglas College | Not ranked | #707 globally | CAD 20,472, 14.1 lakh | Lowest per-credit international tuition in BC public colleges |
| Kwantlen Polytechnic University | Not ranked | NA | CAD 22,000, 15.2 lakh (estimated) | Applied-degree focus with polytechnic co-op |
| Capilano University | Not ranked | NA | CAD 23,000, 15.9 lakh (estimated) | North Vancouver campus, film and media strength |
| Langara College | Not ranked | NA | CAD 20,000, 13.8 lakh (estimated) | Strong university-transfer pathways to UBC and SFU |
| Camosun College | Not ranked | NA | CAD 19,500, 13.5 lakh (estimated) | Victoria-based, health sciences depth |
| Sheridan College (Ontario) | Not ranked | NA | CAD 22,500, 15.5 lakh (estimated) | National reputation in animation and design |
Douglas College stands out on two verifiable data points: the per-credit international rate of CAD 682.40 is at the lower end of BC public-college pricing, and SkyTrain connectivity puts New Westminster and Coquitlam within 45 minutes of downtown Vancouver, which shortens the housing-versus-tuition trade-off Indian students face at Vancouver Island peers.
Douglas College fits the Indian applicant who wants a PGWP-eligible Bachelor’s or Post-Baccalaureate Diploma at Metro Vancouver rates without paying research-university tuition. Total 4-year investment of INR 79 to 90 lakh against a first-job median of INR 38 to 44.9 lakh gives a payback horizon well inside the 3-year PGWP window, and the SkyTrain-linked campus removes the transport cost that inflates budgets at peer Vancouver campuses.
Douglas College is not the right fit for an applicant chasing a globally ranked research brand, a Master’s-level degree, or a professionally accredited engineering programme. Applicants set on those goals should look at universities in Canada such as Simon Fraser University in the same catchment.

- The accounting faculty is one of the best in Vancouver.
- Everything is pretty good.
Campus Life
- It has everything you'd want in a college. The library is really awesome, with a lot of support, like laptops, power banks, etc., available for students.
- There are 3 campuses. The college has volleyball, basketball, and football teams. Not sure about research facilities.
Fees
- Take 30000 CAD as a given. This includes books and other stuff. On the website, you might get a lower quote, but it excludes some costs like the student union, etc.
Likes
- Douglas creates a safe and inclusive environment for all students from diverse countries. It welcomes individuals with an amazing orientation which is very insightful and helpful.
- It has amazing services including counselling and accessibility services for all its students.
Dislikes
- However, Douglas College doesn't have a placement cell. It does have a Career Centre with expert Career Coaches who will guide and help one prepare their resume and cover letter. However, I didn't find a lot of finance specific jobs on their job board based out of Vancouver. They had good jobs in Marketing but not in Finance. Accounting jobs were available but very few.
Overview
I chose Douglas College as it has good recognition in Vancouver. I had some family friends who gave good feedback about Douglas College. Douglas College provides prospective international students an opportunity to connect with fellow current international students studying at Douglas College who gave me a better understanding of how student life at Douglas College is.
Campus Life
Campus life at Douglas College is really exciting with a lot of extra-curricular events happening all-round the year. Events like Friday Hangouts and Slice of Summer happen on bi-weekly basis giving students an opportunity to connect with new individuals and make new friends. Douglas College International organizes plenty of events like hiking to Lynn Canyon Valley, visits to Burnaby Pumpkin Festival and Queen Elizabeth Park every semester. The library is huge with access to computers for student access, textbooks for borrowing, calculators and even research books. All students have free access to wifi on all the floors everywhere on the campus. Douglas has its own basketball and volleyball team wherein students can be a part of it.

Campus Life
We have some activities but not that much. They try their bust but iguess not everyone is available

- Students are from different countries and background. Various facilities are provided to students like free transit card, free gym membership, free tutoring to the students who are facing difficulty in some subjects.
- Course structure really intrigued me and it was covering various courses on data analytics.
Dislikes
- Some of the faculty members are rather arrogant and fail to understand the difficult situation of students. Especially, in computer science department.
- If a student is failing from half a mark, they don't even consider their case or recheck the examination. It takes $2000 to repeat a course. Retaking a course costs $2000, and occasionally the grade is reduced even further if a student requests a recheck of the test.
Overview
Overall, it was a good experience when it comes to studies. Most of the faculty was pretty understanding, but there were a few hiccups as some of the professors was very rigid.
Campus Life
Douglas College offers a vibrant campus life with various clubs and organizations catering to diverse interests. Students can engage in cultural events, sports tournaments, and leadership development programs. The college provides well-equipped research facilities, libraries with extensive resources, reliable WiFi connectivity, and sports facilities to support a well-rounded student experience. But still I think campus life in India was much better than here because we have to manage our work along with the studies and then there are a lot of assignments and projects to do.
Likes
- Douglas College is one of the few colleges in Canada that focus on education and therefore they keep lesser seats available in a batch.
- Even though campus is small, still there are a lot of activities students can do and participate in . Also, Most of the instructors are very corporative. Student in the college belong to diverse culture therefore you will find yourself surrounded with mix of people.
Dislikes
- Instructors are nice but they wont teach you in-depth. Most of the finance topic are not new at all , you would have studied in your bachelors. They won't teach you how to do valuations of businesses so look at the topics before applying.
Overview
My experience at college was good. However if you look at the fees, The study was very average. You won't learn a lot here if you are just coming here to learn.
Campus Life
There are numerous clubs one can join from sports to indoor games to cultural groups. Campus is small so sports usually take place at different venues. College is well equipped with good wi-fi . Student council is very active in listening to student issues and hence keep on upgrading the campus facilities. For eg: recently they added pads in the women washroom and gender neutral washroom .

Overview
Good Reputation school. With two different campus and so many good programs. I had a variety of classes and programs. The teachers were good and the cafe was excellent. It is a very diverse college with students coming from all corners of the world.
Fees
Fees were a little too much that I felt being an international student. For domestic it was one fourth ours which felt kind of discrimination as we already had other too many expenses not forgetting the fact that we are not from the same currency country.
