Program Description

  • Certificate degree in Marketing Management – Financial Services at George Brown College is offered as a 1 years (2 semesters) program.
  • It is an online program offered on a full-time basis.
  • In the graduate certificate program in Toronto, students will develop the marketing skills that employers value in the area of Financial Services Marketing. 
  • The program uses case studies to actively engage students in learning the important principles which develops student’s skills in problem-solving, analysis and decision making.
  • In order to graduate, students need to complete the following 13 mandatory courses and 1 work experience term.
  • Students will develop a skills to successfully market to different customers and build long-term profitable relationships with them.
  • This program requires the successful completion of a one-semester work experience to graduate.
  • This work experience is either co-op (paid) or internship (unpaid). Either one will give students the practical experience employers value.
  • The work experience term occurs between the two academic semesters.
  • Students then apply for these opportunities and go through a competitive interview process.
  • George Brown works with employers and industry partners to identify potential work experience opportunities.
  • In addition to more formal on-the-job work experience George Brown College endeavours to provide field education opportunities with real world problems and clients.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must complete Advanced Diploma degree of 3-year from any College.
  • Or, students must complete any Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university.
  • Students with international transcripts who do not provide English proficiency test results must test at the College level in the George Brown College English assessment to be considered for admission.
  • In addition, students who are considered for admission to the program based solely on their work experience will be required to provide proof of English proficiency at the college level, and may be required to write the George Brown College English admission assessment.

Work Experience:

Students must hold a relevant work experience (resume and references required).

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria

  • Students must be graduated from senior secondary school.
  • Students have a minimum overall of 60% in 10th and 12th Grade for all streams.
  • Students also have a minimum overall of 50% in English in 10th and 12th Grade.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

  • CV/Resume: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
  • Academic Documents: Students have to submit marks sheets and certificates of secondary (10) and senior secondary school (+2).
  • Students who have only completed year 10: Students have to submit marks sheet and certificate of secondary (10) plus mark sheets and a diploma from vocational training may qualify students for admission to UG programs.
  • Transcript: Students must submit the official marks statements or transcripts that are provided by the college.
  • Certificates: Certificates like High School or University/College Certificates are to be submitted of education qualification.
  • ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
  • Students who are under 18 must also submit custodianship documents.
  • NOTE: University does not accept study gaps of more than 5 years.

VISA & Work Study

VISA

  • International Students will need to apply for a valid Student VISA before entering Canada.
  • A student visa is an immigration document that allows students to live and study in Canada.
  • The student must have a student visa to enroll in any degree, program, or course that takes more than 6 months to complete.
  • Whether students also need an Entry Visa depends on their country of citizenship.
  • The Temporary Resident Visa (Entry Visa) is a stamp placed on their passport that allows them to enter Canada.
  • In most cases, students Entry Visa will have the same expiry date as their Student VISA.
  • A student VISA is usually valid for the length of the student’s study program, plus an extra 90 days. 
  • The students need these documents to apply for a study permit:
    • Proof of acceptance i.e The offer letter that the student received from the university.
    • Proof of identity 
    • Proof of financial support i.e Documents showing the financial status.

Work Study

  • The George Brown College Work-Study Program provides students with part-time employment opportunities throughout the college.
