Program Description

  • Graduate Certificate in Quality Assurance – Manufacturing and Management at Sheridan College is offered as a 1-year teaching program.
  • This certificate program has a co-op work option.
  • In order to be eligible to participate in a full-time Co-op Work Term, students must meet the GPA requirements.
  • The student to faculty ratio is 17:1 which bridges the gap between faculty and students.
  • Some of the main courses that students will study in this program are:
    • Quality Planning
    • Fundamentals and Principles of Quality Assurance
    • Engineering Statistics
    • Statistical Quality Controls
    • International Standard for Quality
  • Implement and document national and international quality assurance standards such as ISO 9000 and TS 16949.
  • Design and perform experiments to determine critical areas of product development and analyze the results and form conclusions for quality improvement.
  • Use statistical process control techniques (SPC) recognized throughout industries to ensure the quality level of products.
  • Lead or work with quality assurance professionals to assess, evaluate and improve quality planning procedures to ensure quality production using accepted quality assurance techniques, including Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Apply the principles and techniques of Total Quality Management in improving quality practices within an industrial or service organization.
  • Career positions may include:

    • Quality Control Inspector

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in science or engineering is required.
  • Students must provide acceptable proof of at least three years of full-time study in a secondary school (high school) or school system where English was the primary language of teaching and grading.

Work Experience Eligibility:

  • At least one year of industrial experience and some basic exposure to a CAD system would be an asset.
  • Applicants with postsecondary qualifications from another discipline require at least three years of industrial experience.

English Language proficiency:

  • Applicants from India, China, Vietnam, Philippines, and Pakistan should note that IELTS is the only proficiency score accepted by the Study Direct Stream (SDS) program.
  • Meeting the minimum English requirements does not guarantee admission. Students with higher English proficiency scores will receive priority in the admission assessment process.
  • Not all students will qualify for EAP-3106 in place of the required IELTS or TOEFL test scores.

VISA & Work Study

VISA

  • International Students will need to apply for a valid Student VISA before entering Canada.
  • A student visa is an immigration document that allows students to live and study in Canada.
  • The student must have a student visa to enroll in any degree, program, or course that takes more than 6 months to complete.
  • Whether students also need an Entry Visa depends on their country of citizenship.
  • The Temporary Resident Visa (Entry Visa) is a stamp placed on their passport that allows them to enter Canada.
  • In most cases, students Entry Visa will have the same expiry date as their Student VISA.
  • A student VISA is usually valid for the length of the student’s study program, plus an extra 90 days. 
  • The students need these documents to apply for a study permit:

Work Study
