The Centre for Digital Media (CDM) has been established through an education consortium of the four leading academic institutions: Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, Emily Carr University of Art + Design and British Columbia Institute of Technology.

  • The centre offers 400 graduate programs, fostered 19 start-ups, and also has launched 95% percent of the alumni into the digital profession.
  • The CDM is a private institute, established in 2001.
  • Master of Digital Media (MDM) offered at CDM is the first digital media graduate program to be offered in Canada.

The Centre for Digital Media has two buildings which are the original home of the MDM program and one more that is adjacent to it.


  • CDM offers a graduate degree in Master of Digital Media (MDM) program.
  • Apart from MDM, the institution provides three other special programs such as IDEA-X Program, Teen MDM/Tomorrow’s Master of Digital Media Program (TMDM), and Pre-Master/Digital Media Program (Pre-MDM).

Housing Facilities/ Residence:

The apartments for the students are located upstairs at the Centre for Digital Media campus. MDM students application for apartment are accepted through mail till May 31st.

Admission Requirement

Application process: Applicants are required to fill a Simon Fraser University’s online application form.

Academic Requirement:

  • The minimum academic standards for applicants should be at least B+ in 3rd and 4th-year courses.
  • The applicants should have at least 12 credits of 3rd and 4th-year courses in their field
  • If not the above stated two requirements, then the applicant should hold a 4-year undergraduate degree in a field related to digital media such as computer science, art history, communication art, management, economics, design or performing arts.
  • Letter of intent in not more than 750 words.
  • Short formal essay in not more than 750 words about any topic related to digital media.
  • Computer Skills and Literacy summary form.
  • Program survey form.
  • Resume which included a summary of the applicant’s professional achievements in not more than 250 words.

English Proficiency Requirements: The English Language Proficiency for international students are as follows-

  • TOEFL – minimum score of 100
  • IELTS – Minimum score of 7

Cost and Expenses (H3) The fees are subject to change with the year. Tuition fees here includes the access to a computer and all other softwares, custom course material and group activity if any. The student fees includes all-access transit to pass medical and dental insurance.
