  • To facilitate higher engagement with the students, there are not more than 15 students in a classroom, which is the lowest ratio in any culinary institute of Canada. 
  • It is located in close proximity of 11 km to the Vancouver international airport, Canada ensuring ease in traveling and transportation. 
  • The blue hat bakery is a licensed and wheelchair accessible place in the institute. 
  • The campus is also capable of holding private events and parties with a maximum accommodation of 60 people. 
  • Moreover, the campus also offers space rentals for photography or personal gathering purposes. 

Housing facilities/ Residence

  • The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts does not offer on-campus living facilities to its students.
  • However, various student housing rentals like the viva towers, GEC Pearson are available for the students near the institute. 

Courses

  • The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts offers various pathway programs, 2- year programs of culinary and bakery and pastry arts, and co-op programs for international students. 
  • It also offers dual degree programs of 1 year as well as diploma courses of 6 months. 
  • The 2-year full-time programs also include a year of paid learning to facilitate financial help as well as a real kitchen experience. 
  • Students are offered both on-site and off-site experiences like the pressure cooker experience, 2-hour cooking classes, wine tasting experience, and much more to facilitate all-round development.

How to apply?

Application fee: 150 CAD ( non-refundable). 

Admission Requirements: A high school diploma or its equivalent, reading, and communication skills in English, knowledge of basic cooking. 

Application deadlines: Applications for fall 2020 must be filled by June 29 to avoid rejection. 

Students above 19 years of age may apply in the mature student’s category of the application. 

Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts Cost of Attendance

  • The average cost of attendance is 37,164 CAD for international students inclusive of tuition fees only. 
  • The cost of living in Canada that includes transportation, accommodation, food, etc. varies from person to person.
  • However, according to the Government of Canada, an international student must have at least 10,000 CAD worth funds to get a study permit in Canada. 

Scholarships/ Financial Aid

  • Apart from Scholarships in Canada for International Students, the option of co-op programs is available for full-time students where they can opt for employment during one year of their course. 
  • The following scholarships are offered to students based on the specified Eligibility criteria: 
    • Greg king scholarship: It is a merit-based scholarship offered to only one student every year; Amount covered: USD 1500; Eligibility criteria: minimum GPA of 2.0 in high school 
    • BC hospitality foundation industry scholarship: It is a legacy scholarship offered to those who have worked in the industry for more than 5 years. Amount covered: USD 1000; Eligibility criteria: minimum GPA of 2.0 in high school. 
    • Les dames scholarship: It is a merit-based scholarship offered by a community of culinary and food professionals to empower women to enhance their careers in these fields; Amount covered: USD 300-3000 and Eligibility criteria: students must be BC residents. It is applicable to Women candidates only 
  • International students can also seek the help of external scholarships and loan agencies to help them out with the finances of attending the University.
