For admission at Sobey School of Business in its unparalleled MBA program, a candidate requires a GPA of 3.3 or above along with a GMAT score of 550 or a GRE equivalent and a work experience of minimum 2-3 years. Some other salient points common to the admission process at the institute are as listed below.

  • Applicants may upload the supporting documents while making the online application.
  • International applicants are advised to complete all admission procedures at least 8 weeks prior to the start date of their program.
  • All complete applications will be assessed for entrance scholarships by March 1.
  • Students must apply for residence before May 1 for September intake, November 1 for January intake and February 1 for May intake.
  • Work experience is not mandatory for all courses at the institute but highly recommended by the school.
  • Interview might also be a specification for some of the graduate programs at the school.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) admission updates

  • Students can begin their online studies once they receive an "approval-in-principle" for a study permit from Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • Due to pandemic related closures, international students who cannot submit all their documentation required for a study permit, but still want to start their studies in another country can apply. A two-stage approval process has been recognized to begin their study plans.
  • Any student who has received an "approval on principle" after March 18, 2020, is not eligible for entry into Canada until obtaining final study permit approval.
  • Due to the recent suspensions of activities at English language proficiency testing centres around the world, University is also accepting the Duolingo English test.

Admission Deadlines

The full-time academic sessions at Sobey School of Business begins in January, May, June and September. Although there are no fixed admission deadlines for most of its courses at undergraduate and graduate level for international students, applicants are advised to submit all documents in a timely way, for processing before the course registrations start.

International students are advised to apply well in advance because documents can take up to and over 5 weeks to be processed.

English proficiency requirements

It’s mandatory for all international students to fulfill the institute’s language requirements by submitting the proof of one of the tests like TOEFL,IELTS or equivalent. The minimum score for the same is as given below.

Visa Process for International Students

For studying in Canada, international students require a study permit or Canadian Student Visa. The student must check the information and apply on the ‘Citizenship and Immigration Canada’ website.

It will provide complete comprehensive information about getting a study permit. An amount of CAD 150 is charged for study permit.
