Established in 1841 by the royal charter of Queen Victoria, Queen’s University offers admissions to a plethora of undergraduate and over 150 graduate courses to international candidates coming from over 80 countries across the globe.

Honored as one of the renowned higher education institutes of Canada, the university has a reputation for its undergraduate courses which give strong competition to some exceptionally brilliant ivy league programs. Its courses in Commerce and Engineering are some of the unparalleled programs offered at the institute and thus, are toughest to get into.

If you're a prospective international applicant appearing for enrolling at the institute, the following salient points can surely come in handy for you.

  1. Admissions at Queen’s University are offered on rolling basis round the year with strong preference for early applications.
  2. With a very low acceptance rate of around 10.4% to 19.3% for its undergraduate and graduate programs, respectively, the institute is one of the hardest to crack through.
  3. Admission decisions of the university get guided by various parameters like spectacular GPA & GMAT/GRE scores, extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendations and a strong personal essay of experience.
  4. The basic average percentage of an entering undergraduate candidate is nearly 89.4%.
  5. While the arts courses can be seeked for with an 80% and above GPA, the highly competitive programs like business and Engineering require a 90 or above.
  6. Applicants must note that the university has a very holistic approach towards admissions and thus no amount of strikingly high grade average can can a candidate entry till he/she has an overall decent profile.

Though such cut-throat competition and a tremendously low acceptance rate could be a little disheartening for some, but aspirants must note that it is only the initial process which could be a little strenuous since the university ranks at #2 for happiness and student satisfaction. Along with that, it also experiences a high employment rate of nearly 95% and thus can help you land one of the high-paying jobs in Canada, making it a worthwhile pursuit in the end.
