The Quest University, Canada was opened with a vision to revolutionize the modern education system back in 2007 by Dr. David Strangway. The institute, thus, follows an unorthodox block curriculum instead of the usual semester term and divides its curriculum into a Foundation and a Concentration program.

It focuses on undergraduate programs and offers only one degree in Bachelor of Arts & Science. This program is under constant discussion among the international community and is a coveted choice among aspirants seeking to study in Canada which is reflected in its student body comprising candidates of more than 40 countries across the globe.

The Student-faculty ratio at the institute is 14:1 with a maximum class size of 20 students. Admissions at Quest University are offered in multiple intakes round the year and observe early and regular decision deadlines of December 1 and February 15. The institute has a moderate acceptance rate and is a worthwhile pursuit for landing one of the high-paying jobs in Canada.

Programs, Campus and Accommodation


  • The university campus is located on a 60-acre hill-top on the edge of Garibaldi Provincial Park. It is approximately 73 km from Vancouver and 57 km from Whistler, British Columbia.
  • The campus includes academic buildings, a library, a recreation center, and a dining hall The campus design includes geothermal heating and cooling and the buildings can accommodate up to 800 students at any one time.
  • There are five main student residences, two of them are built as condominiums. All students are required to live in residence for the full duration of the undergraduate program.
  • The Quest University Students’ Association (QUSA) looks after all the student engagements happening at the campus.
  • The institute offers more than 40 clubs to be a part of at the campus. Each club has its own adventure and culture. A few of them include Model United Nations, Theatre Club and the Zumba Club.
  • The University organizes more than 10 annual competitions which are of great importance. Students of all areas actively take part in them.
  • Atrium Café is sponsored by the organization that serves heavenly delicacies to its customers. The Café is considered a get-together hotspot for the students.

Housing facilities/Residence

Quest University Canada promotes community living. Students have to live on campus for 4 years of Under Graduation. Each residence has leaders who are senior students selected by their peers. They work with students to coordinate co-curricular activities, offer help, maintain fosters etc.

  • The accommodation system of the University is called The Peaks. This system includes a chain of four housing options namely Ossa, Red Tusk, Ionia and Serratus.
  • Majority of the students prefer staying on-campus in these houses throughout their college life.
  • The key facilities provided are Single occupancy rooms, Shared bathroom among two students, Parking space for vehicles, Study desk and chair, Fitness center, Creative lounge per building, among others.
  • Students shall vacate the hostel post-fall term. The time period of vacation shall be notified by the authorities responsible.
  • All food services on the Quest University Canada campus is provided by Dana Hospitality
  • For availing parking facilities, students have to register and purchase a pass which costs CAD 35 per term


The institute provides only one degree: Bachelor of Arts and Sciences for almost 300 courses with limited to a maximum of 20 students. It divides the curriculum into a Foundation and Concentration program, and also expects from students to create a personalized Question.

Foundation Program: There are 16 Foundation courses that students are required to take during the first half of the program. These courses are distributed among five broad disciplinary areas of Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Social Sciences.

Concentration program: The second half of the program is devoted to a concentration program. Students can design their own program of Concentration studies according to an interdisciplinary question or topic of research. With the help of a faculty advisor, all students can choose their program. Each Concentration Program consists of four principal elements namely, Statement of the Question, Course plan, List of related readings, Keystone project.

The Concentration program may also include experiential learning components such as semester abroad, leadership training, service-learning, or an internship.

Block plan and field courses: It allows taking one course at a time each for 3 ½ weeks. There are four blocks per semester and full-time students take eight blocks per year. The Block Plan allows for schedule flexibility which permits students to take advantage of travel, work, athletic, and various other opportunities. Quest also offers Field Courses that are situated both locally and abroad. Some examples of field courses are:

  • Visual Anthropology, a photography course taught in the Indian Himalayas,
  • Quest for Antarctica, a research course taught in Antarctica,
  • Marine Zoology taught on the coast of Vancouver Island, and
  • Volcanology, a course taught in Hawaii.

Scholarships/financial aid

The university offers a number of scholarships in Canada for international students on the basis of need or merit. Students can collect the scholarship form from SquareOne, the official admissions portal of the institute. Last date for priority applications is March 1.

Some of the awards available for the candidates of the institute are as compiled below.

  1. David Strangway Award for Excellence: In this full Tuition Fee is waived. Students interested in this award must submit the Strangway Application form on the Quest website.
  2. Quest Presidential Scholarship (CAD 2,000- CAD 18,000): It is awarded to students who stand out not only academically because of their performance and curiosity, but also profoundly influential people. A resume of achievements and recommendation letters are required. Recipients of this award will be notified with their Admission letter.
  3. Quest LEAP Scholarship (CAD 10,000): The Leaders in Athletics and Performance Program (LEAP) allows athletes to pursue education and excellence in their athletic careers. If admitted and approved for LEAP, students will be awarded the LEAP scholarship.
  4. Need-Based Financial Aid: Quest need-based aid is non-re-payable funds provided to students who demonstrate assessed unmet financial need through the application process. Students must apply prior to each academic year for this.

Following are some of the other the highly achievable scholarships granted to the candidates:

  • Presidential Scholarship: Amount Awarded: 10,000 CAD
  • Leaders in Elite Athletics and Performance (LEAP) Scholarship: Amount Awarded: 5,000 CAD
  • GAP Year Scholarship: Amount Awarded: 5,000 CAD
  • United World College Scholarship: Amount Awarded: 5,000 CAD

The Quest University Canada Alumni Association (UWCAA) is the governing body which connects more than 50,000 alumni with their Alma mater. The 3200 archives, the official newsletter keeps the University and Alumni updated with the latest activities in the campus.
