Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • The student can apply for the program if the student has completed higher secondary education(Grade 12).
  • The student can apply to Year 1 if the student has not yet started post-secondary studies.
  • If the student has completed a maximum of 6 credits of post-secondary coursework they can apply. 


  • UBC considers students grades in all Grade 11 (junior-level) and Grade 12 (senior-level) classes.
  • The student must have completed or been in the process of completing Senior Level Math.
  • If the student is completing a BC high school curriculum, the required math is Principles of Mathematics 12 or Pre-Calculus 12.

Advance Entry Option:

Students can Transfer and pursue this program in:

Year 2:

  • The student can apply to transfer to the second year of the BCom program after the first year in another program at UBC or another recognized post-secondary institution
  • The student must have completed a minimum of 24 transferable credits.
  • Subjects like Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Differential Calculus are compulsorily required.
  • A minimum grade of 60% or "C" required in English.

Year 3:

  • The student can apply to transfer to the third year of the BCom program from another recognized post-secondary institution.
  • The student must have completed a minimum of 48 transferable credits including the following UBC courses.
  • Subjects like Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Differential Calculus,  Introduction to Quantitative Decision Making, Application of Statistics in Business,.. etc are compulsorily required.
  • An English subject with 60% marks is required.

VISA & Work Study


  • Student Visa is required to study in Canada. 
  • The student visa is a document that the Canadian government issues that allow foreign nationals to study at institutions in Canada.
  • The cost of the student visa is 112 USD.
  • A student visa is usually valid for the length of the student’s study program, plus an extra 90 days. The 90 days lets the student prepare to leave Canada or apply to extend their stay.
  • The students need these documents to apply for a study permit:
    • Proof of acceptance i.e The offer letter that the student received from the university.
    • Proof of identity. 
    • Proof of financial support i.e Documents showing the financial status.

Work Study

  • Students can work for 20 hours per week during the regular academic year and full-time during scheduled breaks.
  • If their program does not have scheduled breaks, the students will be limited to working 20 hours per week. 
  • An immigration officer may apply conditions on the type of work students may perform.
  • For example, they must pass an immigration medical examination before they begin work in health care, child care, or primary or secondary education.
