Residential Facilities

  • The UQAT campuses at Rouyn-Noranda and Val-d’Or offer residential facilities for the students.
  • The Rouyn-Noranda campus houses 120 rooms for its residents and the Val-D’Or campus has 60 rooms.
  • Two types of rooms are available – 4 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms.
  • Rooms will be available on lease.

All You Need to Know About the Application Process of UQAT

Pre-requisites

For admission to undergraduate courses -

  • A college diploma or DEC (for regular students).
  • College degrees equivalent to DEC, Quebec and at least 13 years of schooling (for Foreign students).

For admission to Masters -

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (for regular students).
  • Graduate degree equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree studies in Quebec and at least 16 years of schooling (for Foreign students).

For admission to Ph.D. courses -

  • Masters Degree (for regular students)
  • Degree equal to Masters Degree studies in Quebec and at least 18 years of schooling (Foreign students).

Documents Required for Foreign Students

Documents required to be submitted for admission to Undergraduate courses –

  • A Non-refundable fee of CAD 75 payable by cheque and made out to Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, by credit card, or money order or in cash.
  • Duly completed paper application form.
  • Copy of the birth certificate.
  • Copy of the most recent transcripts, including Secondary V transcript.
  • Letter of confirmation from an employer, covering a period of at least one year, describing tasks undertaken as an employee. Only documents on the employer’s letterhead will be accepted by the university.
  • Resume.

Documents required to be submitted for Graduate and Post Graduate Programs –

  • Copy of official transcript for the qualifying program (Bachelor’s Degree/Masters Degree as applicable)
  • An essay of minimum 300 words describing academic and professional accomplishments and the reason for opting for the chosen program
  • Three evaluation reports to be sent to UQAT as early as possible

  • Criteria for admission for DCS (Diploma of College Studies) Graduates in Undergraduate Programs –
    • DCS should be completed before the beginning of the session for the chosen course.
  • Criteria for admission on the basis of DCS (Diploma of College Studies) or equivalent in Undergraduate Programs –
    • DCS should be completed before the beginning of the session for the chosen course.
    • Copy of Transcript for the qualifying course.

When and how to apply?

  • Application to various courses in UQAT can be made thrice in - Fall, Winter and Summer.
  • Regular students can apply online for the courses. Foreign students have to submit paper admission forms. Documents sent by email or fax will not be accepted by the university.
  • Candidates, who have applied for a graduate program at UQAT are exempted from paying admission fees. It holds true if it is in the continuity of studies. Also, the candidate should have previously studied an undergraduate course at any institute within the University of Quebec network,
  • Admission form for foreign and domestic students can be downloaded online.
  • Admissions for International Candidates will be accepted only after payment of application fees.
  • Admission for International Students will be valid only after the candidate registers for the course.

The application fee for both Domestic and International Candidates is CAD 75.

Excellence Scholarship for International Masters Students – Professional Profile

  • Scholarship of Excellence and Exemption from Surcharges will be applicable for Masters and Research Programs.
  • Foreign Masters Students enrolled in full-time Professional Profile are eligible.
  • Candidate should not be a recipient of another scholarship that offers 100% exemption of tuition fees.
  • The scholarship amount is equivalent to 25% of increased tuition fees.
  • No application is needed and there is no deadline.
  • The scholarship will be applied automatically to eligible candidates.

Excellence Scholarship for International Masters Students – Research Profile

  • Foreign Masters Students enrolled in full-time Professional Profile are eligible.
  • Candidate should not be a recipient of another scholarship that offers 100% exemption of tuition fees.
  • The scholarship amount is equivalent to 50% of increased tuition fees.
  • No application is needed and there is no deadline.
  • The scholarship will be applied automatically to eligible candidates.

UQAT Excellence Scholarships

  • Foreign Masters Students enrolled in full-time Professional Profile are eligible.

  • No application is needed and there is no deadline.
  • The scholarship will be applied automatically to eligible candidates.?

Government Tuition Waiver Scholarships

  • These scholarships are provided to encourage foreign students to undertake courses at UQAT. They offer a total exemption of tuition fees for the candidates.
  • These are offered by the Directorate General of Academic Affairs and Interorders of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research (MÉES).
  • There are 20 scholarships under this scheme.

  • Candidates not eligible for this scholarship can avail UQAT Excellence Scholarship.

Work While You Study

  • UQAT offers paid jobs to its students while they are enrolled in their respective courses.
  • The Work –Study Program is especially for students who are facing financial difficulties/parental responsibilities/not eligible for loans or bursaries/returning to school.
  • The Program is financed by the Quebec Ministry of Education and UQAT. 50% of the salary of eligible students is paid by the Ministry.
  • Maximum 15 hours of work a week is permitted.
  • Students are provided benefits of maximum CAD 2000 per year.

Eligibility

  • Should be a Canadian Citizen/permanent resident within the meaning of Immigration Act.
  • Should be a full-time student at the university.
  • Satisfactory school record.
  • Have applied for Loans and Bursaries Program in the current year. However, this condition will not be applicable for candidates who are not eligible for loans/bursaries any longer.
  • Candidate must reside in Quebec.
  • Need financial aids to continue their education.

Application and Conditions

  • Candidates have to fill up application form obtained from the respective department for Financial Aids.
  • The Student and Graduate Services Financial Aid Department evaluates the application and provides a certificate of eligibility to the student, if applicable. The certificate will give added benefits to the candidate when getting employment.
  • Students employed by UQAT may apply for accreditation of Work-Study Program.
  • Students have to renew their Certificate of Eligibility for each session.
