I chose this college and specifically this program because it provides excellent preparation for graduate studies in Literature. There are opportunities for individual research along with seminars. For the Honors program, I had to apply in the second year as it is very competitive. My application fee for the online application was $150.

    Course Curriculum :

My program mostly covers Literary history through the ages. Medieval Period as well as Modern British, American and Canadian history of literature is taught in class. A lot of emphases is given to Post Colonial and World Literature. Poetry as diverse as Romantic to Gothic Fiction is discussed elaborately.

I initially applied to Dalhousie University, which is closely affiliated to King's; and two weeks into my program realized that the latter was a better fit for me - and therefore I transferred. I applied to 4 Canadian Universities, out of which I got into 3 - one of them was Dal, my top choice. I did A levels in humanities in the 12th grade - Sociology, Psychology, English and English literature.

    Course Curriculum :

It's very heavy, but enjoyable if you like reading.

Social issues have always been my interest area right from childhood. Newspapers and News channels, which were my father's everyday evening rituals, slowly started having an impact on me as well. And it ended up becoming a part of my practice too. In fact, that's what made me opt for the Bachelor of Journalism degree. Though I had applied to several institutes across the world, I was able to bag a place at the University of King's College in Nova Scotia, which I found to be a renowned institute for its Journalism education. With an average score of 86% from my high school, my small contributions towards journalism in the form of papers and articles, a thousand-word essay about myself, and an application fee of $65, I completed my application for the program.

    Course Curriculum :

In this renowned program, I am gaining experience in telling engagement, fact-based stories. I am also learning to ask ethical and probing questions, research deeply and write with flair and precision. The course has helped me to become a clearer thinker who can discern facts from opinion, ambiguity or falsehood. Telling stories with words, audio, and video, reaching audiences on multiple platforms is what I currently learned. Gaining experience and building my professional network through a journalism internship is what I am looking forward to.

Apart from those hectic classes and assignments, I find myself engaged in a number of groups and societies. They include Contemporary Studies society, where I take part in a couple of social events, Day's Students society that keeps me sociable, Journalism Society that lets me take part in campaigns and work on honing my journalistic skills, King's PRIDE Society where I combine with a like-minded lot in fighting for the rights of LGBT, and King's Wordsmiths that facilitates writing workshops infrequent intervals.
