Program Description

  • The University of Alberta offers an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree with specializations in Anthropology.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis and completed within 4 years of study. 
  • The honors programs in the Faculty of Arts require one year of study prior to admission and the students must present a minimum of (24) credits to be eligible.
  • The anthropology program explores the origins and history of the human species through investigating biological, cultural, and linguistic diversity in human populations.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students will need a minimum overall average of 70% score in both grade 11 and grade 12 to get into the University of Alberta.
  • A GPA of 3.0/4.0 or it's equivalent in the last two years of study is required.
  • To apply for this course students should have a high school degree and they should complete a pre-professional degree of one year.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students will need to submit school results for Class XI showing a competitive average and course registration for Class XII, or Class XII mid-year results.
  • Students in CBSE or CISCE schools need to present 75%+ marks on their final Class XII exams.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

  • CV/Resume: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
  • Official Transcripts: Students have to submit a copy of their original official transcripts.
  • Reference letters: Students will choose letter writers that will be able to comment on their academic record as well as other experiences or relevant skill sets. 
  • Three Letters of Reference: The online application system will notify the references and allow the student to upload their letters. Letters can be academic or business references.
  • Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
  • ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
