Want to make career in Journalism? Come to Mount Royal University

    8.2 /10

I choose Mount Royal University for Bachelor of Communication-Journalism because one of my friends was studying here and he encouraged me to apply for this university because of its high placement rate, experienced faculty, and affordable tuition fees. Living here in Calgary is quite light on your pocket and the university provides financial aid through different means, like student loans, bursaries, scholarships, etc. which help us in paying our expenses. I applied for the program on the official website of the college, I also had to pay $100 as the application fee.

    Course Curriculum :

The program is designed to teach us to think critically, learn the art of storytelling, and develop skills to write clear, compelling, and creative stories. During the entire duration of the course, we are taught to do photography, we do storytelling through audio-video and digital graphics. During the course, we get several opportunities to participate in prestigious writing and journalism competitions and showcase our talent on renowned platforms.

    Exams :

Admission to the Bachelor of Communication-Journalism program is given based on our previous academic performances. However, being an international student I gave TOEFL-scored 96. Well, each course has its specific requirements and you need to fulfill that.

    Placement :

The overall placement rate of our university is 79%. Journalism graduates get jobs in organizations like The Calgary Sun, The Calgary Herald, CBC, the Govt. of British Columbia, Culinaire magazine, and Beatroute magazine, etc. Many choose to become news editors, magazine editors, television anchors, reporters and producers, social media specialists, public relations specialists for organizations, etc.

    Fees :

Tuition fees including accommodation on-campus cost me somewhere around $24,000, while the additional living expense is almost $38,000 this includes Books, rent, transportation, and living expenses. However, this cost may vary depending upon the individual's living style. Also, we get to apply for scholarships and bursaries that help us pay our expenses.

    Faculty :

As the class size in our university is kept really small it is easy for the students to interact with the teachers and vice-versa. In my program, we have a class size of 15-20 students. Our teachers are highly experienced ones, they are always there to support us and provide their assistance whenever we ask for even after the classes. They keep an eye on the progress of each student which is really impressive.
