Carlton Trail Regional College
Amazing college for certificate and diploma courses
I wanted to do a certificate course before joining a university in Canada for my bachelor's. I did a bit of research before applying to this college for my certificate course. The GPA of 8 helped through the admission process. I had applied through an online portal for the admissions. An application fee of $45 was paid by me.
The program helped me get a better understanding of the administrative field and also carve outrageous a better career path in the field. It will give me the advantage to choose the best college and get the most out of it. The subjects offered in the curriculum are accounting, business communication, interpersonal communication, word processing, keyboarding, office procedures, etc. The curriculum touches upon every important field.
To get better opportunities in Canada I decided to do a certificate course in office administration. I had submitted my TOEFL score of 110 to prove my proficiency in the English language. Since it is a certificate course only the test for proving my proficiency in the English language as required by the college.
The program is 32 weeks long. Only one exam is to be held at the end of the program on the basis of which the certificate is given. The exam structure is simple and credit-based. The structure's convenient for students and it's also based on the work given in the field.
The faculty of my college is very cooperative. They have terminal degrees in their respective fields of study. They have helped me catch the important parts of the curriculum and also helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses. They clarify my doubts and have developed leadership and management skills in me. They have also helped me improve my attitude towards various situations and have made me realize the essence of time.
I had paid around $5200 for tuition fees and an additional amount of $45 was also paid by me for the application procedure. Books and supplies had cost me around $ 2000. The fee for the entire curriculum is to be paid at the starting of the course. The college also offers a scholarship program to students of $1000.
I chose the on-campus accommodation provided by the college. I spent around $1000 for my accommodation. The on-campus housing facility is situated at a distance of 10 minutes from the college which helped me save up on my travel expenses.
The placements offered by my college is quite good. About 80% of the students get placed every year as the courses offered by the college are job or industry oriented and make us students ready to face the field. Students get placed as office assistants, supervisors, shipment supervisors etc. The pay packages are also quite attractive.
Since it is a certificate course we are provided with short term internships to gain practical knowledge. The companies tired up with our college s select students to train them and make them for the corporate world. I haven't joined an internship program as I am keener on completing my bachelor's first.
A board/staff recognition event is celebrated in our college on June 5th every year where the faculty members and other staff members are awarded and given respect. On this day the students pay their respects to the teachers, speeches are presented by students and teachers.
I had applied for a scholarship Carlton Trail College Student Awards during the time of my admission procedure. I was awarded the scholarship of $1000 as I had applied for it before the given date. It helped me cover my accommodation expenses.
Monthly Expense : $1500 - $2500
