Ans. The point which needs to be addressed at first is that Delhi School of Economics doesn't provide any BA Economics course as of now. Though, many of the other colleges under Delhi University offer this course. The admission procedure starts with the evaluation of the performance in 12th standard boards. Both BA Economics and Bachelors in Business Economics (BBE) indeed provide great career opportunities. Though, few factors need to be considered before making a choice. Here are some of the factors mentioned below. Firstly, the question arises in the mind is about the enjoyment one gets while practicing maths. If the answer is no, then it is highly recommended to go for BBE as BA Economics includes a lot of maths. Secondly, it is regarding the interest in learning about the working of economy or functioning of a business. Students keen to learn about the working of economy should opt for BA Economics while students interested to know about the functioning of business may opt for BBE. Then it is about the future aspirations. If you are interested in research, teaching, and academics then opt for BA Economics. Though, both BBE and BA Economics are suitable options for those who are heading towards the corporate sector. Finally it is your decision to shape the future. You need to be certain about your future goals. If you are opting to pursue MBA, you can go for any of the two courses available. Though, students who are willing to pursue MA in economics, should definitely pursue BA Economics without any doubts.Read more

Ans. Delhi School of Economics, Madras School of Economics, and Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy are reputed institutes for offering quality education in Economics. If you are considering the Mumbai region, Mumbai University’s Kalina campus is a good institute to do a Master’s in economics.  The college has a good syllabus which covers almost 8 core papers in the first two semesters.  Students get the opportunity of doing a summer internship which is assisted by MSEPP. These internships ensure students can confidently enter the corporate world after completing their courses. In the Mumbai region, IGIDR and MSEPP are the best options for pursuing MA in Economics with good curriculums. IGIDR should be the first preference if you can score well enough in the entrance exam. A close second is MSEPP but it has a heavy dropout percentage.Read more

Ans. The choice of MBA from Delhi School of Economics or Department of Financial Studies entirely depends upon the interest of the student. If you are interested in finance, then definitely Department of Financial Studies will be a better option than Delhi School of Economics.  Though, if you are confused about the stream, then you can opt for Delhi School of Economics. In Delhi School of Economics, companies hire students irrespective of their profiles such as finance, operations, marketing, etc. Both being part of Delhi University, so the brand, infrastructure, etc are kind of the same. Ans. Delhi School of Economics is one of the best institutes in India, reputed for its MA (Economics), MBA (IB), and MBA (HRM). DSE has a brand value that helps you in the industry. Students of DSE are working in the top managerial posts in the corporate world. Other colleges DFS, DBE, IIM, SRCC GBO are known for the different flagship courses they offer. DSE: MBA is not the flagship program at the Delhi School of Economics. However, it has good faculty and nice placements.  In DSE for the batch of 2020 the highest package offered was 18 LPA and the average package offered was 10.57 LPA. DSE has distinguished alumni like Dr. Amartya Sen, Pranoy Roy (Founder & Executive Chairperson, NDTV), Prof. Kaushik Basu (Chief Economist).  DFS: DFS is known for its flagship offering MBA (Finance). The college boasts of experienced faculty and provides better placement opportunities for its students.  In DFS for the batch of 2020 the highest package offered was 21 LPA and the average package offered was 10.5 LPA. DBE: DBE is known for its specialized offering of MBA in Business Economics. The course is offered by experienced faculty and provides a good opportunity for the students.  In DBE for the batch of 2020 the highest package offered was 21.5 LPA and the average package offered was 10.5 LPA. IIMs: IIMs are the best in the country when it comes to management education in India. IIM A, B, C consistently feature in the top 100 colleges to do MBA in the world.  They have experienced faculty, world-class facilities, an internationally accepted curriculum, and a rich alumni base. They offer the best placement opportunities for the students and research facilities if they wish to continue so. SRCC: At SRCC, GBO is a specialized course offered by the institute.  SRCC has a huge reputation, brand value, and has highly experienced faculty.  In SRCC, GBO received the highest package of 18.81 LPA and the average package offered was 10.16 LPA for 2020.  Ambedkar University is a good college but cannot be compared with the colleges mentioned above.  The selection of the institute depends on your choice of specialization. If you are interested in Mathematics or Economics, then DSE will be the best choice. For an MBA in Finance, IIM C/I/A/B will be the best option. DFS is also good for Finance. For MBA Marketing, FMS/IIM-A/IIM-B is better. IIMs are also best for HR or IT. For fields like Tread, Research, International Marketing, or Sales DSE will be best.Read more

Ans. We need to consider two types of students who are planning to do their research in economics. Types of Students in Ph.D.: One who is fixed in the area in which they want to do research. They need guides who are publishing regularly in good journals in all the mentioned institutes. They can select and proceed with the guide in whichever institute they are available. Another type of student is those who haven’t yet decided on their area of research and still exploring options. Good guidance and coursework are of paramount importance for them. This is the area where IIM Bangalore takes an edge over the DSE. Comparison: Among the three IIM’s, IIM Bangalore has emerged to be the best when it comes to research in economics. It now has a top-class economics department.  The faculty has published in journals like Journal of Economic Theory and Economic Letters etc.  Delhi School of Economics has renowned faculty but they lack a bit in peer exposure and interactions.  So, when it comes to research, the culture and faculties give an edge to IIM Bangalore over the Delhi School of Economics. Apart from these universities ISI Delhi has also made its mark and is one of the best in this field. Their training pedagogy is at par with top US universities and has world-class faculties. The flagship courses of ISI Delhi are the Microeconomics department and then Development Economics. It is one of the best places to pursue your Ph.D. compared to other institutions in India.Read more

It is the most reputed college for post-graduation. Firstly, It was my dream college. Secondly, This college is only 1km away from my home. So, I don't have to travel much. I have opted for economics in the post-graduation because I have started liking the subject even more after graduation. I want to go for a mathematical course and mathematical course is only offered by a few colleges.

DSE do have a good Course structure, highly qualified faculty members, also do have Good placements records. I wanted to explore more in the field of economics, thus I chose doing an MA in economics. DSE do have a flexible and do give more options to choose subjects from. in semester 3 and 4 all subjects are optionals, we need to choose 4 out of 10 subjects offered. Thus it do have a flexible course structure. Also, it do have a research exposure in the field of economics under the guidance of such qualified faculty.
