The candidates have to clear 10+2 examinations with an aggregate of 50 percent in PCB stream.Then they are eligible to give the NEET entrance exam which is mandatory for all the students who want to get into medical. Admission in grant medical college is done through All India Medical Counselling as All India Quota 15 % MBBS seats and remaining through Maharashtra State and remaining through Maharashtra state medical counselling as 85% state quota conducted by state medical authorities.

Hostel: There are around 860 rooms for undergraduates students and 410 rooms for PG students. Apart from rooms provided for UG and PG students the college also provides 200 rooms for interns with air conditioning and internet facility. There is a separate dining area for both boys and girls. There are around 7 canteens for staff and students.
Museum: The college has a departmental museum which consists of charts, radiographs, catalogs. These are basically made by students under the able guidance of their professors. The museum contains the typical model of skeleton.
Affiliated Hospital: The college is affiliated to J.J. Group of Hospitals. It has around 18 major and 2 minor operation theatres. The hospital provides all the vital facilities such as X-ray, ultrasonography, MRI scan and also having approval of AREB and PNDT. It provides clinical services and has a lecturer theatre for practical classes.
Library: There are 2 kinds of libraries i.e the departmental library and a central library which covers an area of nearly 6 acres. The library has a total of 45000 medical books, reference books and journals. It has a seating facility of 270. The library has other facilities as well such as e-library, wifi facility, etc.

The faculty consists of both teaching and non teaching staff and every department is having its own head who are led by Dr Ajay S Chandanwale (the college dean) followed by a vice dean for UG and vice dean for PG, associate dean and a medical superintendent. The faculty has immense knowledge in their respective realm which helps the students to comprehend and get familiar with the subject in a much better manner. Wi-Fi is not provided in any of the places on the campus. The laboratory is good. There are 3 libraries. One in boys hostel, one is common, and one in girls' hostel. Classrooms are huge, and some of them are air-conditioned. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. Mess facilities are not available. There are 4-5 canteens around the campus. The campus is spread over 45 hectares.

Pros: 1. MBBS from a renowned college like this will definitely have its own perks. Plus it has the best college campus( Don't forget Anatomy hall in Munnabhai MBBS movie). 2. Being an apex govt institute in Maharashtra, you will get to see a wide variety of patients including really rare cases. 3. All the renowned PG classes have their prime center in Mumbai so you can join them even in your second year. 4.The cultural capital of Medical colleges ( have their very own gymkhana at marine drive where all the functions take place). 6. The fees per year is 67,000rs. for 1,3 and 4yr. For 2nd yr its 90,000. Hostel fees are rs 4000 per year. The hostel is on-campus only. In total 5 canteens in the campus. 7. An internship here is an experience to be treasured forever. Cons: 1. Politics and JJ go hand in hand. So sometimes it could be really troublesome. The Dean has now changed so maybe there is a little hope to minimize this. 2. Academics were a little lenient back under the reign of a specific dean.

At first it may seem a very lenient college/administration, especially when the rival medical colleges in Mumbai are very strict but over the years you realize that it was for the better and the other college students suffer of inexperience, bookworm culture and unknown of "duniyadari".

Yup a lot of things are positive and negative are only of food from canteen campus is large and yes we have basketball and ground near our hostel where we can play. We can enjoy alot in events and have good time with friends.
