Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research is a national research institute located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The institute was established in 1957. The institute is currently affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata. The institute offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and postdoctoral programs including super specialty programs in various disciplines of Medical Sciences.

  • Admission to the MBBS program will be done through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, commonly known as NEET UG, which is conducted by CBSE.

At the undergraduate level, Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research offers MBBS, BPT, and B.Sc. in Nursing programs to the candidates willing to pursue their career in the Medical field. Candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and 45% aggregate marks in order to be eligible to apply for admission in these courses.

Selection of applicants in the MBBS program is based on national level entrance test NEET UG conducted by CBSE followed by state level counselling. Selection of the candidate for the BPT program shall be on the basis of merit test namely JENPAUH, which is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

IPGMER, Kolkata M.Sc. Admission 2020

IPGMER offers two-year M.Sc. in various specializations of Nursing. In order to seek admission in the M.Sc (Nursing) program, eligible candidates are required to appear in West Bengal Post Graduate Nursing Admission Test (WBPGNAT) which is also conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board.

The minimum eligibility to apply to this course is to pass B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (H) Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC / ST).

IPGMER, Kolkata Paramedical Diploma Admission 2020

Apart from the UG and PG courses, the institute also offers two-year Paramedical Diploma courses in various specializations. To be eligible, candidates must have passed 10+2 level or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.

Students for Paramedical courses shall be selected strictly on the basis of the merit, as determined by a competitive test conducted by the WBUHS.

IPGMER, Kolkata MD and MS Admission 2020

IPGMER Kolkata offers three-year MD and MS program at the postgraduate level under various specializations. In order to meet the eligibility criteria candidates must hold an MBBS degree or equivalent qualification as specified by the MCI and complete one-year rotational internship prior to the admision.

Eligible candidates will have to appear for NEET PG conducted by the National Board of Education (NBE). However, Candidates for postgraduate courses are strictly selected on the basis of their merit, as determined by a competent test conducted by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS).

IPGMER, Kolkata DM and M.Ch Admission 2020

The Institute also offers three-year super specialty courses in various specializations of DM and Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch). Candidates must hold an MD or MS degree from a recognized university in order to apply to these courses.

The selection of candidates in each super-specialty courses shall be made through NEET-SS conducted by National Board of Examination. Final selection will be done on the merit of marks secured in the entrance test as well as in last qualifying examination.
