Admission to medical colleges is primarily through the NEET exam, with rankings at both all-India and state levels. The entrance exam, under MCI guidelines, typically occurs between April and May, and covers botany, zoology, physics, and chemistry. Approximately 2,000 to 4,000 students secure seats out of the many who appear. The college faculty is highly qualified, all being specialized doctors with at least 10 years of experience, known for their supportive and student-friendly approach.
Student strength is 175, with a minimum of 20 teaching staff per department covering MBBS, BDS, and nursing courses. Annually, there are three internal exams, prefinals, and a final exam by DR.NTRUHS, which are moderately to highly difficult. The college charges an annual fee of 10,000 rupees, with additional exam fees of around 3,000 rupees. Hostel fees are 20,000 rupees annually, and optional mess fees are 30,000 rupees, bringing the comprehensive annual fee to about 60,000 rupees.
MBBS students must complete a one-year internship, typically in a government hospital, earning a stipend of Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000 per month. Graduates can pursue jobs earning around Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 or specialize further through NEET PG. Despite the fee structure being transparent and consistent, there have been delays in disbursement of stipends and scholarships in recent years.
