because I want to give the NET/SET exam for becoming a lecturer and it has good placements also as a second option. they have 42 courses so according to that they have a pretty good ratio. in my class there are 58 students exactly. everyone has cleared the Net/Set exam, Some are doctorate, others have done PHD, actually, they are pretty excellent in their field. even their teaching method is purely interactive and they focus on quality content. term exams are two in total, with two internals. passing exams all depends upon you. though they are not that difficult of you have attended lectures and studied properly.
I'm majoring in geology and Fergusson College is the most renowned college in India to learn the subject. It does live up to the expectations. Faculty is knowledgeable and friendly and always ready to help you with your doubts and queries. Labs are well equipped and practicals are taken very seriously. Fieldwork is arranged every year to explore the rocks, minerals, famous geological phenomenon and it helps to achieve the basic understanding of geology. Teachers use both digital and traditional method to teach the subject and importance is given to presentations, assignments, seminar, group discussions etc. Theory exams are conducted in Two phases, Sessional and End sem. The syllabus is usually finished within time and students get enough time to prepare for the exams so it doesn't get very hectic. Although Projects and submissions are to be taken seriously.
I chose this course because I wanted to study mathematics up to masters level. The faculty was well knowledged and expertise in their domain. The student-teacher ratio was around 1:20. All of the faculty was done with PhD and research level. The faculty used various modern techniques of teaching such as using digital mediums. The term and unit exams were taken frequently and monthly and honestly difficulty level was quite hard.
I had chosen a BSc in computer science because I have interest in computers since childhood. The faculty in this college is extremely great and with Ph.D. level. The student ratio is 1:20 The course is divided into credits and you have to earn credits to pass the semester. There are internal and external exams according to the credit system and the exams were generally of easy level.
1) Course curriculum: there are various kinds of courses in FC like arts, science, media, photography, computer science, etc. also, FC has the best laboratory for every course to explore more and has 'BAI JERBAI WADIA LIBRARY' which is one of the biggest libraries 15900sq ft one of the best things about this college is their extracurricular activities which will help you to explore more. About Hons. degree in FC: In 1st yr, you have to choose 4 subjects out of which you have to choose 3 subjects in 2nd yr and at last in the final yr you have to choose 1 subject 2) Faculty in FC: faculty is really good at FC than the other colleges.you will find highly qualified teachers like Ph.D., came from IIT's ISSER, etc. but yes you will find some bad teachers also which is the case of every college every year you have two-semester of four-month and in each semester you have to give two CE exam (25 Marks) and it's not that difficult to pass an exam.
The course syllabus is updated from time to time to keep at par with national and international standards. I personally found the syllabus quite interesting. The faculty is really knowledgeable and helpful.
Last year, (FYBA) our fee was about to 10000rs. For the weaker section there was some concession in fees but for that income certificate or caste certificate required to make sure the student is really eligible for the concession or not. The payment accepted by online. And from then no additional fee charged in a whole year. College provide transparency in fee as it gives a receipt with detailed fees amount and the purpose.
Syllabus and Exam structure is relevant to the UPSC exam as most of the students opted for my course are civil service aspirants. Exam fairly driven in warm atmosphere. There are many more departments for the students who are seeking to learn industry specific knowledge.
The fee structure is quite feasible. However, there are two sections : 'grant' and 'non-grant'. The fee structure varies in these scenarios as mostly non-grant section has a higher fee structure. Also, there are multiple courses provided at college encompassing both bachelor's and master's degree so again this aspect needs to be considered. Overall though, the fee structure can be referred to as feasible.
Fergusson turned autonomous as soon as I got admission for my MA. This greatly changed the curriculum and kind of added practical aspects to English (surprisingly). It was relevant and not something which could be just 'crammed and puked' on the paper. We were told to research, present, analyze and introspect everything right from history of literature to modern day aspects of teaching and writing. It was actually quite interesting to study English literatute from a very different perspective. Campus interviews are definitely arranged at college, but considering the current COVID 19 situation, everything has been experiencing a pause. But certainly, our curriculum did help us get an insight into the outside world.
Well, it is an autonomous college so the syllabus is good and more different from the University syllabus. The college has excellent teaching faculty with more experience in various projects within India as well as out of India. As I already mention that colleges have various curriculum activities like NCC, NSS, etc. College results are good in each sector. Every college got rank in Purushottam Karandak. The teacher also supports students in many activities.
