Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS), Nainital was established in 1969 as Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR) founded by Mr. B. M. Birla, in the developing Bhimtal industrial belt.

  • It is affiliated to the Kumaun University, Nainital and Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
  • The vision of the institute is to emerge as a vibrant and socially most relevant institution in the region contributing to the development of high quality human resource and setting standards of excellence in its areas of its functioning.
  • The mission of the institute is to empower the youth for the highest level of technical, scientific and managerial roles in public and private sectors and entrepreneurship by imparting most modern, inclusive and relevant education and inculcating in them highest order of human values.
  • It is located near Lake Bhimtal, 19 km fom Nainital district of Uttaranchal. Also, it is in the vicinity of Lake Sattal, and Naukuchiatal. The campus is spread over an area of about 10 hectares of prime land amongst the Kumaun hills, thus providing a cool climate and lush green environmental surroundings, ideally conducive for academic pursuit.

All the 90 computers of the computer labs are well equipped with latest tools and technologies.

Hostel

Available for both boys and girls separately. It has 5 boy’s hostels with capacity of about 500 students and girl’s hostel with 100-rooms & capacity of 225 students.
