GRIET was established in 1997, under the patronage of the Gokaraju Rangaraju Educational Society, created by Dr. Gokaraju Ganga Raju, the chairman of griet.
GRIET is located in a campus of eighteen acres in Bachupally village, close to the Hyderabad-Mumbai National Highway, and 4 km from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kukatpally, Hyderabad. The college is situated on a lush green hilly plot.
It has four main blocks -
Shannon block, or Block 1, housing the School of Computing Technologies,
Faraday Block, or Block 2, housing the School of Electrical Sciences,
Ramanujan Block, or the New Block, housing Administration,
Block 4 housing the School of Mechanical Engineering,
The campus has two seminar halls, an open air theater and an auditorium.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh on 27 November 2004 established its first DKC (District Knowledge Center), also called JKC (Jawahar Knowledge Center), in the state. The college JKC has been awarded the Best JKC for 2007.And this campus has tremendous placements both in IT field and in industry field.Average salary pacakage is about 4.0Lpa.
Pragnya is the annual techno-management symposium of GRIET and is celebrated in December every year for three days. It provides paper presentations, workshops, competitions, technical quizzes, business quizzes, programming contests, design contests, and guest lectures.
After 2009 management let IEEE conduct Pragnya every year, since then Pragnya'10 and Pragnya'11 have been conducted by IEEE.
The college celebrates its annual mega cultural fest Pulse every year in march. It shows performances by people from the film industry. It is a day filled with activities, competitions, thundering dance floor, and food courts. Pulse has become a popular cultural festival in the twin cities.
Annual Day Celebrations are celebrated to mark the birthday of Dr. Gokaraju Rangaraju, in whose name the college came into existence. This coincides with the Republic Day of Independent India - 26 January. On this day, flag hoisting is done in the morning, followed by prize distribution to the students who performed well in their university exams and extracurricular activities. There are cultural events, song and dance sequences and plays. A dinner is arranged for all the students and guests.
Spices gives an opportunity to the students to show their culinary skills. The competition is held annually and prizes are awarded to the winners, who are selected by a panel of judges. The judges take into consideration not only the taste, but also the nutrition value of the recipe and the way the students present the dishes.
Rhythms shows singing, dancing and stage shows. As a part of Rhythms, singing, dancing, dramatization, and acting are conducted.
Spirals is a literary event that includes competitions such as essay writing, elocution, debates, and inno-ad. The college has an editorial team that publishes writings on college events, achievements, and life in and around GRIET, in Reflections, a paper magazine. It has an e-news letter called GeM,which is a monthly feature.
The annual quiz competition is conducted annually to test the general knowledge of the students. The students are selected after a written test. The competition is conducted as a part of Pragnya, where students from other colleges participate.

Ans. GRIET Hyderabad has been ranked 172 in the Engineering category in NIRF by MHRD. College regularly organises FDP for the students of different departments to provide them with better knowledge. GRIET also provides consultancy to the Government and industries through R & D centres. The faculties are highly educated with good academic backgrounds. Courses: GRIET offers B.Tech in degree Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Civil Engineering (CE), Information Technology (IT), Mechanical Engineering (ME), computer science & Business system and CSE. M.Tech degree is offered in design for manufacturing, power electronics, VLSI, Computer science & engineering, structural engineering and data science. Admissions: 70% of the seats in B.Tech are allotted on merit basis while remaining seats are allotted to the management/NRI candidates. Admission is given to any Engineering college in Andhra Pradesh through a common entrance test (EAMCET). Tuition fees for 1 year of B.Tech programme are 1.22 lakhs. For admission in M.Tech programmes, candidates must have a B.E. or B.Tech degree with minimum 55% aggregate and a valid score of GATE or PGECET. Total tuition fees for the M.Tech programme is 1.14 lakh. Infrastructure: GRIET campus comprises a huge library, laboratories, water plant, solar water plant, canteen, classrooms and sports area. Computer labs are equipped with highly advanced software. Placements: The previous year, a total of 834 students from all the departments got placement from the college. More than 100 students were placed with CTC above 6 lakh. Famous companies which recruited the students of GRIET were Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, CISCO, Byju’s and many more. Highest salary package received by the students of GRIET was 41.6 lakh. Ans. NIRF 2020 has ranked GRIET 172 for BTech. EEE or Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at GRIET aims at providing good education to the students with emphasis upon design aspects of electrical systems. Admissions: The EEE department at GRIET offers BTech for EEE and MTech courses for Power Electronics and Power Systems. At GRIET, the B. Tech course in EEE has 120 student intake and Postgraduate programmes in Power Electronics and Power Systems has 30 seats. Admission is given on the basis of score of EAMCET for BTech course. Whereas, GATE or PGCET scores are accepted for MTech admission. In 2019 the EAMCET closing cutoff for EEE was 6072. 70% of seats are given on merit basis while remaining to management quota or NRI candidates. The course fee for BTech is 4.88 lakhs. Whereas, the MTech courses cost around 1.14 lakhs. Facilities: EEE department has well-developed labs like electrical machines lab, power electronics lab, electrical networks lab, a digital signal processing lab, programmable logic controllable labs, etc. GRIET also provides the students with facilities like transportation, sports ground, canteen, library and facilities for physically handicapped students. Placements: In the 2018-19 Session, 81 students got the opportunities to do internships at various companies like BHEL, NTPC, KTPS-VII, TS TRANSCO, Nuclear Fuel Complex and many more. In session 2018-2019, 87 UG students and 6 PG students got placement from the EEE department of GRIET. Highest salary package offered to any student of GRIET in 2020 was 41.6 LPA. The average CTC received by the students was 5.05 LPA. The top recruiters who visit the campus placement are Amazon, Capgemini, Deloitte, Infosys, Wipro and TCS.
