IEM Kolkata Facility

IEM Infrastructure: Infrastructure is average with 3 buildings and a playground. Each building is dedicated to different courses. The playground is sufficient to play Basket Ball and Badminton.
Hostel: Fees of IEM hostel is ₹39000 per sem. but one has to pay for the whole year at one time. And there is no hostel of IEM, IEM has a contract with some local pg owners and they will allow you one of those pg accommodations. I think there are 4–5 such hostels of IEM is situated in Salt Lake and one in mahisbathan which is very near to the college building.

Ans. IEM is ranked 3rd best for engineering in West Bengal and ranked at 79th position all over India. UEM is ranked 96th for engineering by Times 2020. BCA has a more software-based approach whereas B.Tech includes learning of both hardware and software. Admission: The admission to BTech at UEM and BCA at IEM is through IEMJEE. The prerequisite for the programs is 10+2 from a recognized board. The cut-offs are declared at the time of admissions. Particulars BCA in IEM B.Tech in UEM Intake 120 1400 Fee 1.57 Lakhs 5.86 Lakhs Duration 3 years 4 years Placement: UEM- It has a placement percentage of 123%; almost all the students get 2-3 job offers. The average package is nearly 4.2 Lakhs per annum. The highest package offered was 40 Lakhs per annum. Ans. IEM Kolkata as a college is just focused on getting marks and secure jobs during campus placements rather than providing quality education to its students to get some knowledge. The students were told to sit in campus placements with UEM students which was considered to be a very dis-organized step taken by the college. The environment inside the college is very bad and the curriculum for students is worse. My sister studied here and she mentioned how the students are only concerned about getting any kind of job during the campus placement so the institution can maintain their reputation resulting in more admissions in the coming years. Categories IEM Kolkata Course Fees 5.83 lakh Placement Percentage 70-75% Highest CTC 15 LPA Average CTC 5-6 LPA Lowest CTC 2.5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, Hitachi, SAP Lab. They don't care about improving the knowledge or skills of a student. The rules of the college are really difficult sometimes. Like if you're seen at the library you can be restricted for bunking class. Also the teachers are very rude and the students are scared of them. Ans. MBA usually costs more than other degrees. If you do not get a decent ROI after finishing the course, it is likely to take a toll on you. Old IIMs and reputed management institutes like XLRI, Jamshedpur, NITIE Mumbai are best options for pursuing MBA. If you perform well during your time at these institutes, you will get your money’s worth. It is difficult to secure admission at these institutes. But if you put in the effort you can definitely get the required CAT percentile. IEM: IEM has a name for Engineering but for management, it is not as reputed. The official website may boast of cushy placement packages, but the figures shown are not always accurate. So, don’t believe the figures blindly. Here is a brief overview of the MBA program at IEM. Ans. IEM Kolkata is known for its great placements. The Computer Science and Engineering department is one of the oldest departments in the Institute of Engineering and Management. Every year around 150 students in B.Tech (CSE) and 18 students in M.Tech (CSE) get admitted to the department. The college attracts very brilliant students because of the department reputation as well as the excellent placement records. IEM Kolkata B.Tech (C.S.E) provides around 95% Placements in 2020, with the highest salary packages 22 lacks, and lowest packages with 4 lakhs. For CSE, renowned companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, IBM, Tech Mahindra, and so on come for picking up some talents. TCS, Wipro, and Infosys are the mass recruiters on the campus. The Placement Cell of the Institute of IEM, Kolkata has set a standard for its placement by providing a minimum one offer to each and every student who has taken admission in IEM, Kolkata. Placement starts from the month of August and usually continues throughout the year until May. In IEM, placement for CSE is almost 100% in 2019. The lowest package offered is around 3.6 LPA while the average package will be around 5-6 lakhs per annum. And the highest will be about 18 lakhs per annum. Because I am right now pursuing MBA from this college so for providing real review of the college I attend for this college. This college is one of the best colleges in Kolkata for pursuing an MBA. They also provide us with foreign digital marketing certification from University of Singapore. The placement cell is also very helpful . Average package is Rs. 5 lakh/year.

IEM Kolkata is ranked as the best private Engineering College in Eastern India. I knew a few seniors who passed out from IEM and few who were studying there, and they motivated me to take admission in IEM for a better career. I also visited many websites like collegedunia, etc. for being assured. The college provides 100% placement which is very rare and this was the key factor for getting admitted in this college. IEM is known for its discipline and lab facilities. The only drawback is its infrastructure which will surely improve in the coming years. The admission process is pretty similar as for any other state. WB-JEE is conducted every year for the college seeking aspirants. After the results are declared, we have to apply for counselling which can be done using both WB-JEE rank and JEE Mains rank. On the basis of preference and ranking, the college is alloted and the students take admission.

When I was searching for the best college to get the admission, some people told me to try for Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) and after I got admitted to this college, I really understood that I selected the right college. I will always prefer this college because discipline is strictly obeyed in IEM and all the teachers are like parents. In 2019, admission was going on offline and it was held around the month of July. This year, due to covid pandemic, the admission process was held around the month of October and from 2nd November, online education started for the first year batch. According to me, the one and only bad aspect is that every semester, Rs. 65,000 is to be paid by each and every student to continue with their education which is quite high according to me. But in other aspects, IEM is overall the best institute and especially for ECE stream.

I chose IEM on the basis of internet reviews of different websites and college reviewing experts. On these websites, it was reviewed as one of the best private institute in west bengal and some of them even considered it as no. One institute of eastern part of India so such reviews drew my attention towards this college. Well on a real basis the college it not that great that is shown in some websites it has some number of cons that make this college an average college in India. I took help of the Nirf ranking and college information provided by the government of India on their websites and also some websites like career360.com collegedunia.in quora.in and some YouTube channels that does college reviews

My college is known for one of the best placement private college in not only Bengal, but in North India. The teachers are quite good and they take classes regularly unlike other private institutes. The only caveat is the over disciplinary environment of our college. I took admission after the 3rd round counseling of WBJEE, 18th July 2019 I preferred this college above others because of better placement, better competition and higher rank in NIRF than other private colleges. I used quora and collegedunia to find about this college.

This college is the oldest private Engineering Institute of West Bengal. All the classrooms are equipped with projectors and big black boards. The entire College campus is supported with high speed Wi-Fi facility. Laboratories are equipped with all types of experiments at ups and modern day high-end technologically advanced kits (3D printer). Inhouse canteen is present which variety of foods. There also dedicated labs for technical innovations directly funded by central government and e-cell.
