        Course Curriculum -

I chose Mechanical engineering as it is a blend of various other streams as well, and more importantly for my love for classical physics. Moreover, the college had a reputation of being very good for Mechanical as the professors were the best in the business. The stream had around 220 students in total for our batch which were further divided into 4 sections consisting of approximately 60 students each. There were around 100 faculty members in Mechanical engineering. All the faculty were mandatorily recruited with minimum qualification of M-Tech which was later revised to PhD. The teaching method used was a mixture of blackboard teaching and PowerPoint presentations based on the subject re...

The faculty-student ratio in a big plus around 20:1 that is better than most colleges. Most of them are PhDs from reputed institutions. I am an ECE student are most are faculties are really good. They are passionate about their subject and pass the knowledge with great enthusiasm. We usually have 4 assignment (5 marks) 2 sessional (15 marks) and the end seems (50 marks). 18 marks are required to pass in endsems and 20 marks in internals.

Computer Science is the top paying course in today's world. The number of jobs being created in the IT Industry is way more than the jobs in the core market. Everything happens on computers today so this course is very useful and the number of opportunities is very high. The faculty: student ratio is around 1:10 which is very good as each faculty is able to allocate a sufficient amount of time for each student. Around 70-75% faculties are PHDs in their respective fields which is very beneficial for the students as the knowledge that the teachers provide is immense. The teaching method is through PPTs and Handwritten Notes along with classroom lectures which I believe is a great approach to t...

        Course Curriculum -

I have an interest in mechanical from the beginning so chose that branch. MIT is great for it and labs are best with access to free CAD software and best library. Practical learning is great. The faculty-student ratio is like 20:1 so maybe great weekly assignments and then sessional followed by the end seems.

The course curriculum needs to be made more updated with current industry relevance. While some faculties are good, there is still a scope of huge improvement particularly in my field. There also needs to be more focus in research.

Hi Soubhik, The placement scenario is quite good. There is a minimum requirement for sitting in placements is around 6 cgpa. The average placement package is also quite decent around 6lpa which can be considered quite good considering the age of this institute .Many major companies like Microsoft,Amazon,Samsung etc come in the college for in campus placement.

Decent alumni recognition, excellent location, specifically good for mechanical engineering course as it has very reputed professors. Also, seats were given purely based on merit instead of quota. From websites like quora, the feedback was that college life is great in terms of the overall development. The admission process is fairly straightforward. Seperate entrance exam is conducted and based on the score the counseling procedure as scheduled. Exam happens around May-June. The exam can be given twice and the best score out of 2 is considered. The college boasts of distinguished alumni such as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Rajeev Suri amongst a few which is always attractive. Apart fr...

The reviews of the college from the alumni were really encouraging and none of them seemed to be disappointed with their college experience. The exposure which the college provided further lured me into the decision. Good - 1. Student community is really friendly. There is no scope of ragging and the authorities take strict actions if there is any. 2. Exposure is immense there are a plethora of clubs be it technical/non- technical/cultural where you can pursue your hobbies/ hone your skills and learn to work in a team. 3. Manipal is an amazing place to stay and there are various recreational spots to explore. Bad - 1. The fee is high. 2. Some of the professors aren't interested in teaching...

Manipal Institute of Technology is the second-best private college in India after BITS Pilani. MIT is an Institution of Eminence which was a big reason to join. The exposure provided here in terms of the activities, fests, clubs and student projects are best when compared to other colleges. There is a good and informal bond between juniors and seniors here with no instances of ragging or bullying. There is a student buddy program here in which each first-year student is allotted a senior as a mentor who will clear all doubts of the junior. The admission process takes into account the MET Score and the counselling process is smooth and impartial. There is the NRI Quota for students from abroa...
