Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata, was started in the year of 1947 to amuse the growing need of marine engineer in India. The former name of the college was Directorate of Marine Engineering Training had it’s headquarter in Calcutta and a branch at Mumbai, under the Ministry of Shipping (Government of India). The Institute was renamed as Marine Engineering and Research Institute in 1994. The institute was a dream project of independent India at that time. The students of the college established themselves in the corporate boulevards of administrative services, management, industrialism, etc.
